In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.

Because you know all this, you have great joy. You have joy even though you may have had to suffer for a little while. You may have had to suffer sadness in all kinds of trouble.

In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,

So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.

You rejoice in this, even though now for a short time, if necessary, you suffer grief in various trials

through whom we also have our access by faith into this grace in which we stand. We rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Beloved, don’t be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you.But because you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, rejoice, that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all.

For, I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last of all, like men sentenced to death. For we are made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and men.We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You have honor, but we have dishonor.Even to this present hour we hunger, thirst, are naked, are beaten, and have no certain dwelling place.We toil, working with our own hands. When people curse us, we bless. Being persecuted, we endure.Being defamed, we entreat. We are made as the filth of the world, the dirt wiped off by all, even until now.

My soul is weary with sorrow: strengthen me according to your word.

Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

“ Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many afflictions we must enter into God’s Kingdom.

Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom.

that the proof of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ—whom, not having known, you love. In him, though now you don’t see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with joy that is unspeakable and full of glory,

It is for discipline that you endure. God deals with you as with children, for what son is there whom his father doesn’t discipline?But if you are without discipline, of which all have been made partakers, then you are illegitimate, and not children.Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live?For they indeed, for a few days, punished us as seemed good to them; but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness.All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Oh come, let’s sing to Yahweh. Let’s shout aloud to the rock of our salvation!

If I say,‘ I will forget my complaint, I will put off my sad face, and cheer up;’I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that you will not hold me innocent.

Women received their dead by resurrection. Others were tortured, not accepting their deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.Others were tried by mocking and scourging, yes, moreover by bonds and imprisonment.They were stoned. They were sawn apart. They were tempted. They were slain with the sword. They went around in sheep skins and in goat skins; being destitute, afflicted, ill- treated—of whom the world was not worthy— wandering in deserts, mountains, caves, and the holes of the earth.

But let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;

Hannah prayed, and said:“ My heart exults in Yahweh! My horn is exalted in Yahweh. My mouth is enlarged over my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation.

He has said to me,“ My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, and in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong.

Rejoice in the Lord always! Again I will say,“ Rejoice!”

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith,

Reproach has broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness. I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; for comforters, but I found none.

For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh;

as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

Are they servants of Christ?( I speak as one beside himself.) For though he causes grief, yet he will have compassion according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.For he does not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.

Yahweh, I know that your judgments are righteous, that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.

that I may show all of your praise. I will rejoice in your salvation in the gates of the daughter of Zion.

You became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit,

All my bones shall say,“ Yahweh, who is like you, who delivers the poor from him who is too strong for him; yes, the poor and the needy from him who robs him?”

I will greatly rejoice in Yahweh! My soul will be joyful in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation. He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and severely troubled.

My spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior,
