彼曰、自我導我民以色列出埃及、於以色列支派中、我未嘗簡一邑以建室、為我寄名之所、惟簡大衛、治我民以色列、

所許之言曰、自耶和華導以色列民、出埃及以來、迄於今日、未嘗於以色列支派中、遴選一邑、使人建殿、為籲名之所、惟簡大闢、治理我民。

自我導我民以色列出伊及以來、未曾於以色列諸支派中選一邑、使人為我名建殿、惟選大衛治理我民以色列、

‘ Since the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel to have a temple built so that my Name might be there, but I have chosen David to rule my people Israel.’

‘ I brought my people Israel out of Egypt. Ever since, I haven’t chosen a city in any tribe of Israel where a temple could be built for my Name. But I have chosen David to rule over my people Israel.’

‘ Since the day that I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, that my name might be there. But I chose David to be over my people Israel.’

‘ From the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have never chosen a city among any of the tribes of Israel as the place where a Temple should be built to honor my name. But I have chosen David to be king over my people Israel.’”

“ Since the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city to build a temple in among any of the tribes of Israel, so that my name would be there. But I have chosen David to rule my people Israel.”

‘ Since the day that I brought My people Israel from Egypt, I did not choose a city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house so that My name would be there, but I chose David to be over My people Israel.’

Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house, that my name might be there; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.

耶和華對撒母耳說：「我既厭棄掃羅作以色列的王，你為他悲傷要到幾時呢？你將膏油盛滿了角；來，我差遣你到伯利恆人耶西那裏去，因為我在他兒子中已看中了一個為我作王的。」

當夜耶和華的話臨到拿單，說：「你去對我僕人大衛說：『耶和華如此說：你要建造殿宇給我居住嗎？自從我領以色列人從埃及上來，直到今日，我未曾住過殿宇，卻在會幕和帳幕中行走。凡我同以色列人所走的地方，我何曾向以色列任何一個領袖，就是我吩咐牧養我百姓以色列的，說過這話：你們為何不給我建造香柏木的殿宇呢？』現在，你要對我僕人大衛這樣說：『萬軍之耶和華如此說：我從羊圈中將你召來，叫你不再牧放羊羣，立你作我百姓以色列的君王。

願你的眼目晝夜看顧這殿，就是你說要作為你名的居所；求你垂聽禱告，你僕人向此處的禱告。

然而，耶和華－以色列的上帝在我父的全家揀選我作以色列的王，直到永遠。因他揀選猶大為領袖，在猶大家中揀選我父家，在我父的眾兒子裏喜悅我，立我作全以色列的王。

那時你們要將我所吩咐你們的燔祭、祭物、十一奉獻、手中的舉祭，和向耶和華許願的一切上好的祭，都帶到耶和華－你們上帝所選擇立他名的居所。

自從我領以色列人上來，直到今日，我未曾住過殿宇；我從這會幕到那會幕，從這帳幕到那帳幕。凡我同以色列人所走的地方，我何曾向以色列的一個士師，就是我吩咐牧養我百姓的，說過這話：你們為何不給我建造香柏木的殿宇呢？』

因為耶和華揀選了錫安，願意當作自己的居所：

耶和華說：「我也必將猶大從我面前趕出，如同趕出以色列一樣。我必撇棄我從前所選擇的這城耶路撒冷和我所說我的名必留在那裏的殿。」

他揀選他的僕人大衛，從羊圈中將他召來，

但耶和華－你們的上帝在你們各支派中選擇何處作為立他名的居所，你們就要到那裏求問，

但你們若歸向我，謹守遵行我的誡命，你們被趕散的人雖在天涯，我也必從那裏將他們召集回來，帶到我所選擇立為我名居所的地方。』

只留一個支派給他的兒子，使我僕人大衛在我所選擇立我名的耶路撒冷城那裏，在我面前常有燈光。

當時，你在異象中吩咐你的聖民，說：「我已把救助之力加在壯士身上，高舉了那從百姓中所揀選的人。我尋得我的僕人大衛，用我的聖膏膏他。

『自從那日我領我百姓出埃及地以來，我未曾在以色列各支派中選擇一城，在那裏為我的名建造殿宇，也未曾揀選一人作我百姓以色列的君王。但我選擇耶路撒冷，使我的名留在那裏，又揀選大衛治理我的百姓以色列。』我父大衛的心意是要為耶和華－以色列上帝的名建殿。耶和華卻對我父大衛說：『你有心為我的名建殿，這心意是好的；但你不可建殿，惟有你親生的兒子才可為我的名建殿。』現在耶和華實現了他所應許的話，使我接續我父大衛坐以色列的王位，正如耶和華所說的，我也為耶和華－以色列上帝的名建造了這殿。我將約櫃安置在那裏，櫃內有耶和華的約，就是他與以色列人所立的約。」

你們到我的地方示羅去，就是我先前在那裏立為我名的居所，察看我因這百姓以色列的罪惡向那地方所行的事。
