The king of Israel replied to Jehoshaphat,“ There is one more man who could consult the Lord for us, but I hate him. He never prophesies anything but trouble for me! His name is Micaiah son of Imlah.” Jehoshaphat replied,“ That’s not the way a king should talk! Let’s hear what he has to say.”

以色列王對約沙法說：『還有一個人、是音拉的兒子米該雅、我們可以託他尋問永恆主。不過我恨他，因為他傳神言論到我、總不說吉祥話，總是說不吉祥的話。』約沙法說：『請王不要這樣說。』

The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat,“ There is still one prophet through whom we can inquire of the Lord, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me, but always bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.”“ The king should not say such a thing,” Jehoshaphat replied.

The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat. He said,“ There is still one other man we can go to. We can ask the Lord for advice through him. But I hate him. He never prophesies anything good about me. He only prophesies bad things. His name is Micaiah. He’s the son of Imlah.”“ You shouldn’t say bad things about him,” Jehoshaphat replied.

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord, Micaiah the son of Imlah, but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but evil.” And Jehoshaphat said,“ Let not the king say so.”

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is still one man who can inquire of the LORD, but I hate him because he never prophesies good about me, but only disaster. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.”“ The king shouldn’t say that!” Jehoshaphat replied.

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is still one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord, but I hate him, because he does not prophesy anything good regarding me, but only bad. He is Micaiah the son of Imlah.” But Jehoshaphat said,“ May the king not say so.”

So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is still one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the Lord; but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” And Jehoshaphat said,“ Let not the king say such things!”

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Jehovah, Micaiah the son of Imlah: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is still one man who can ask Yahweh, but I hate him because he never prophesies good about me, but only disaster. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.”“ The king shouldn’t say that!” Jehoshaphat replied.

The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat,“ There is still one man through whom we can seek the LORD’s will. But I despise him because he does not prophesy prosperity for me, but disaster. His name is Micaiah son of Imlah. Jehoshaphat said,“ The king should not say such things.”

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Yahweh, Micaiah the son of Imlah; but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” Jehoshaphat said,“ Don’t let the king say so.”

The world can’t hate you, but it does hate me because I accuse it of doing evil.

How you hate honest judges! How you despise people who tell the truth!

Should you talk that way, O family of Israel? Will the Lord’s Spirit have patience with such behavior? If you would do what is right, you would find my words comforting.

And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed.But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.”

I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world.

So these officials went to the king and said,“ Sir, this man must die! That kind of talk will undermine the morale of the few fighting men we have left, as well as that of all the people. This man is a traitor!”

Give them this order from the king:‘ Put this man in prison, and feed him nothing but bread and water until I return safely from the battle!’”

And all nations will hate you because you are my followers. But everyone who endures to the end will be saved.

But the people mocked these messengers of God and despised their words. They scoffed at the prophets until the Lord’s anger could no longer be restrained and nothing could be done.

Calamity will surely destroy the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be punished.

The Lord, the Redeemer and Holy One of Israel, says to the one who is despised and rejected by the nations, to the one who is the servant of rulers:“ Kings will stand at attention when you pass by. Princes will also bow low because of the Lord, the faithful one, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”

Suppose a prophet full of lies would say to you,“ I’ll preach to you the joys of wine and alcohol!” That’s just the kind of prophet you would like!

Then the people said,“ Come on, let’s plot a way to stop Jeremiah. We have plenty of priests and wise men and prophets. We don’t need him to teach the word and give us advice and prophecies. Let’s spread rumors about him and ignore what he says.”

You will say,“ How I hated discipline! If only I had not ignored all the warnings!Oh, why didn’t I listen to my teachers? Why didn’t I pay attention to my instructors?I have come to the brink of utter ruin, and now I must face public disgrace.”

But when Ahab heard this message, he tore his clothing, dressed in burlap, and fasted. He even slept in burlap and went about in deep mourning.Then another message from the Lord came to Elijah:“ Do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has done this, I will not do what I promised during his lifetime. It will happen to his sons; I will destroy his dynasty.”

Meanwhile, the Lord instructed one of the group of prophets to say to another man,“ Hit me!” But the man refused to hit the prophet.Then the prophet told him,“ Because you have not obeyed the voice of the Lord, a lion will kill you as soon as you leave me.” And when he had gone, a lion did attack and kill him.Then the prophet turned to another man and said,“ Hit me!” So he struck the prophet and wounded him.The prophet placed a bandage over his eyes to disguise himself and then waited beside the road for the king.As the king passed by, the prophet called out to him,“ Sir, I was in the thick of battle, and suddenly a man brought me a prisoner. He said,‘ Guard this man; if for any reason he gets away, you will either die or pay a fine of seventy five pounds of silver!’But while I was busy doing something else, the prisoner disappeared!”“ Well, it’s your own fault,” the king replied.“ You have brought the judgment on yourself.”Then the prophet quickly pulled the bandage from his eyes, and the king of Israel recognized him as one of the prophets.The prophet said to him,“ This is what the Lord says: Because you have spared the man I said must be destroyed, now you must die in his place, and your people will die instead of his people.”So the king of Israel went home to Samaria angry and sullen.

His brothers responded,“ So you think you will be our king, do you? Do you actually think you will reign over us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dreams and the way he talked about them.

“ If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first.The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you.

Baruch son of Neriah has convinced you to say this, because he wants us to stay here and be killed by the Babylonians or be carried off into exile.”So Johanan and the other military leaders and all the people refused to obey the Lord’s command to stay in Judah.

But the wicked are doomed, for they will get exactly what they deserve.

So don’t bother correcting mockers; they will only hate you. But correct the wise, and they will love you.

“ So, my enemy, you have found me!” Ahab exclaimed to Elijah.“ Yes,” Elijah answered,“ I have come because you have sold yourself to what is evil in the Lord’s sight.

Once when Jezebel had tried to kill all the Lord’s prophets, Obadiah had hidden 100 of them in two caves. He put fifty prophets in each cave and supplied them with food and water.)

I got rid of their three evil shepherds in a single month. But I became impatient with these sheep, and they hated me, too.

Meanwhile, the messenger who went to get Micaiah said to him,“ Look, all the prophets are promising victory for the king. Be sure that you agree with them and promise success.”

When they complete their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the bottomless pit will declare war against them, and he will conquer them and kill them.And their bodies will lie in the main street of Jerusalem, the city that is figuratively called“ Sodom” and“ Egypt,” the city where their Lord was crucified.And for three and a half days, all peoples, tribes, languages, and nations will stare at their bodies. No one will be allowed to bury them.All the people who belong to this world will gloat over them and give presents to each other to celebrate the death of the two prophets who had tormented them.

Have I now become your enemy because I am telling you the truth?

Mockers hate to be corrected, so they stay away from the wise.

He replied again,“ I have zealously served the Lord God Almighty. But the people of Israel have broken their covenant with you, torn down your altars, and killed every one of your prophets. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me, too.”

King Joram demanded,“ Do you come in peace, Jehu?” Jehu replied,“ How can there be peace as long as the idolatry and witchcraft of your mother, Jezebel, are all around us?”

bringing words of praise to their lips. May they have abundant peace, both near and far,” says the Lord, who heals them.“ But those who still reject me are like the restless sea, which is never still but continually churns up mud and dirt.There is no peace for the wicked,” says my God.

They tell the seers,“ Stop seeing visions!” They tell the prophets,“ Don’t tell us what is right. Tell us nice things. Tell us lies.

I have heard the many rumors about me. They call me“ The Man Who Lives in Terror.” They threaten,“ If you say anything, we will report it.” Even my old friends are watching me, waiting for a fatal slip.“ He will trap himself,” they say,“ and then we will get our revenge on him.”
