So the king of Israel assembled the prophets, about four hundred men, and said to them,“ Should I go to battle against Ramoth gilead or should I refrain?” And they said,“ Go up, for the Lord will hand it over to the king.”

So the king of Israel brought together the prophets— about four hundred men— and asked them,“ Shall I go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall I refrain?”“ Go,” they answered,“ for the Lord will give it into the king’s hand.”

So the king of Israel brought about 400 prophets together. He asked them,“ Should I go to war against Ramoth Gilead? Or should I stay here?”“ Go,” they answered.“ The Lord will hand it over to you.”

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them,“ Shall I go to battle against Ramoth-gilead, or shall I refrain?” And they said,“ Go up, for the Lord will give it into the hand of the king.”

So the king of Israel summoned the prophets, about 400 of them, and asked them,“ Should I go to war against Ramoth gilead, or should I hold back?” They all replied,“ Yes, go right ahead! The Lord will give the king victory.”

So the king of Israel gathered the prophets, about four hundred men, and asked them,“ Should I go against Ramoth-gilead for war or should I refrain?” They replied,“ March up, and the Lord will hand it over to the king.”

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them,“ Shall I go against Ramoth Gilead to fight, or shall I refrain?” So they said,“ Go up, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.”

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver[ it] into the hand of the king.

So the king of Israel assembled about four hundred prophets and asked them,“ Should I attack Ramoth Gilead or not?” They said,“ Attack! The sovereign one will hand it over to the king.”

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them,“ Should I go against Ramoth Gilead to battle, or should I refrain?” They said,“ Go up; for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.”

Now then, send orders and gather to me all Israel at Mount Carmel, together with 450 prophets of Baal and four hundred prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”

Also among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a horrible thing: The committing of adultery and walking in deceit; And they strengthen the hands of evildoers, So that no one has turned back from his wickedness. All of them have become to Me like Sodom, And her inhabitants like Gomorrah.Therefore this is what the Lord of armies says concerning the prophets:‘ Behold, I am going to feed them wormwood And make them drink poisonous water, For from the prophets of Jerusalem Ungodliness has spread into all the land.’ ”This is what the Lord of armies says:“ Do not listen to the words of the prophets who are prophesying to you. They are leading you into futility; They tell a vision of their own imagination, Not from the mouth of the Lord.They keep saying to those who despise Me,‘ The Lord has said,“ You will have peace” ’; And as for everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart, They say,‘ Disaster will not come on you.’

Because you disheartened the righteous with falsehood when I did not cause him pain, but you have encouraged the wicked not to turn from his wicked way to keep him alive,

Did you not see a false vision and tell a lying divination when you said,‘ The Lord declares,’ but it is not I who have spoken?” ’ ”Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:“ Because you have spoken deceit and have seen a lie, therefore behold, I am against you,” declares the Lord God.“ So My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will have no place in the council of My people, nor will they be written down in the register of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel, so that you may know that I am the Lord God.It is definitely because they have misled My people by saying,‘ Peace!’ when there is no peace. And when anyone builds a wall, behold, they plaster it over with whitewash;so tell those who plaster it over with whitewash, that it will fall. A flooding rain will come, and you, hailstones, will fall, and a violent wind will break out.Behold, when the wall has fallen, will you not be asked,‘ Where is the plaster with which you plastered it?’ ”Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:“ I will make a violent wind break out in My wrath. There will also be in My anger a flooding rain and hailstones to consume it in wrath.So I will tear down the wall which you plastered over with whitewash and hurl it down to the ground, so that its foundation is exposed; and when it falls, you will perish in its midst. And you will know that I am the Lord.So I will expend My wrath on the wall and on those who have plastered it over with whitewash; and I will say to you,‘ The wall is gone and those who plastered it are gone,along with the prophets of Israel who prophesy to Jerusalem, and who see a vision of peace for her when there is no peace,’ declares the Lord God.

When he came to the king, the king said to him,“ Micaiah, should we go to battle against Ramoth gilead, or should we refrain?” And he said,“ Go up and succeed, for the Lord will hand it over to the king!”

And the Lord said to him,‘ How?’ And he said,‘ I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets.’ Then He said,‘ You shall entice him, and you will also prevail. Go and do so.’Now then, behold, the Lord has put a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all these prophets of yours; and the Lord has declared disaster against you.”

But false prophets also appeared among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.Many will follow their indecent behavior, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned;and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

Now in the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, Hananiah the prophet the son of Azzur, who was from Gibeon, spoke to me at the house of the Lord in the sight of the priests and all the people, saying,“ This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:‘ I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.Within two years I am going to bring back to this place all the vessels of the Lord’s house, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took from this place and brought to Babylon.I am also going to bring back to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the exiles of Judah who went to Babylon,’ declares the Lord,‘ for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.’ ”Then Jeremiah the prophet spoke to the prophet Hananiah in the sight of the priests and in the sight of all the people who were standing at the house of the Lord,and Jeremiah the prophet said,“ Amen! May the Lord do so; may the Lord fulfill your words which you have prophesied, to bring back the vessels of the Lord’s house and all the exiles, from Babylon to this place.Yet hear now this word which I am going to speak so that you and all the people can hear it!The prophets who were before me and before you from ancient times also prophesied against many lands and against great kingdoms regarding war, disaster, and plague.As for the prophet who prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet comes to pass, then that prophet will be known as one whom the Lord has truly sent.”

“ Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

When he came to the king, the king said to him,“ Micaiah, should we go to battle against Ramoth gilead, or should I refrain?” He said,“ Go up and succeed, for they will be handed over to you!”

For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires,

The prophets prophesy falsely, And the priests rule on their own authority; And My people love it this way! But what will you do when the end comes?

But I said,“ Oh, Lord God! Behold, the prophets are telling them,‘ You will not see a sword, nor will you have famine; on the contrary, I will give you lasting peace in this place.’ ”Then the Lord said to me,“ The prophets are prophesying falsehood in My name. I have neither sent them nor commanded them, nor spoken to them; they are prophesying to you a false vision, divination, futility, and the deception of their own minds.

And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire, which burns with brimstone.

Therefore I will give their wives to others, Their fields to new owners; Because from the least even to the greatest Everyone is greedy for gain; From the prophet even to the priest, Everyone practices deceit.They have healed the brokenness of the daughter of My people superficially, Saying,‘ Peace, peace,’ But there is no peace.
