However, Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel,“ Please request the word of the Lord first.”

But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel,“ First seek the counsel of the Lord.”

Jehoshaphat continued,“ First ask the Lord for advice.”

And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel,“ Inquire first for the word of the Lord.”

Then Jehoshaphat added,“ But first let’s find out what the Lord says.”

But Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel,“ First, please ask what the LORD’s will is.”

Also Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel,“ Please inquire for the word of the Lord today.”

And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Inquire first, I pray thee, for the word of Jehovah.

But Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel,“ First, please ask what the Lord’s will is.”

And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.

Then Jehoshaphat added,“ First seek an oracle from the LORD.”

Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel,“ Please inquire first for Yahweh’s word.”

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of the Lord by him?” And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”

and said to Jeremiah the prophet,“ Please let our pleading come before you, and pray for us to the Lord your God for all this remnant— since we have been left only a few out of many, just as your own eyes now see us—that the Lord your God will tell us the way in which we should walk, and the thing that we should do.”Then Jeremiah the prophet said to them,“ I have heard you. Behold, I am going to pray to the Lord your God in accordance with your words; and I will tell you the whole message which the Lord gives you as an answer. I will not withhold a word from you.”Then they said to Jeremiah,“ May the Lord be a true and faithful witness against us if we do not act in accordance with the whole message with which the Lord your God will send you to us.Whether it is pleasant or unpleasant, we will listen to the voice of the Lord our God to whom we are sending you, so that it may go well for us when we listen to the voice of the Lord our God.”

However, Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel,“ Please request the word of the Lord first.”So the king of Israel assembled the prophets, four hundred men, and said to them,“ Should we go to battle against Ramoth gilead, or should I refrain?” And they said,“ Go up, for God will hand it over to the king.”

Now the sons of Israel set out, went up to Bethel, and inquired of God and said,“ Who shall go up first for us to battle against the sons of Benjamin?” Then the Lord said,“ Judah shall go up first.”

Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.

Now it came about after the death of Joshua that the sons of Israel inquired of the Lord, saying,“ Who shall go up first for us against the Canaanites, to fight against them?”

Moreover, he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the Lord. At his command they shall go out, and at his command they shall come in, both he and all the sons of Israel with him, all the congregation.”

“ Please inquire of the Lord in our behalf, because Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is making war against us; perhaps the Lord will deal with us in accordance with all His wonderful acts, so that the enemy will withdraw from us.”

Now in the seventh year, in the fifth month, on the tenth of the month, men from the elders of Israel came to inquire of the Lord, and they sat before me.Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,“ Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel and say to them,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ Do you yourselves come to inquire of Me? As I live,” declares the Lord God,“ I certainly will not be inquired of by you.” ’

And David inquired of the Lord, saying,“ Shall I pursue this band of raiders? Will I overtake them?” And He said to him,“ Pursue, for you will certainly overtake them, and you will certainly rescue everyone.”

Then Saul said to Ahijah,“ Bring the ark of God here.” For at that time the ark of God was with the sons of Israel.

So David inquired of the Lord once more. And the Lord answered him and said,“ Arise, go down to Keilah, for I am going to hand the Philistines over to you.”

So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he committed against the Lord, because of the word of the Lord which he did not keep; and also because he asked counsel of a medium, making inquiry of her,

“ Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts and have put in front of their faces the stumbling block of their wrongdoing. Should I let Myself be consulted by them at all?

So the men of Israel took some of their provisions, and did not ask for the counsel of the Lord.

So Israel set men in ambush around Gibeah.

So David inquired of the Lord, saying,“ Shall I go and attack these Philistines?” And the Lord said to David,“ Go and attack the Philistines and save Keilah.”

But David knew that Saul was plotting evil against him; so he said to Abiathar the priest,“ Bring the ephod here.”Then David said,“ Lord God of Israel, Your servant has heard for certain that Saul is seeking to come to Keilah to destroy the city on my account.Will the citizens of Keilah hand me over to him? Will Saul come down just as Your servant has heard? Lord God of Israel, please, tell Your servant.” And the Lord said,“ He will come down.”Then David said,“ Will the citizens of Keilah hand me and my men over to Saul?” And the Lord said,“ They will hand you over.”

And the sons of Israel went up and wept before the Lord until evening, and inquired of the Lord, saying,“ Shall we again advance for battle against the sons of my brother Benjamin?” And the Lord said,“ Go up against him.”

But the angel of the Lord said to Elijah the Tishbite,“ Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and say to them,‘ Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going to inquire of Baal zebub, the god of Ekron?’
