告之曰、王命以此人拘於獄、加以艱苦、不使之食足飲足、原文作使之少食餅少飲水直待我安然而歸、

and say,‘ This is what the king says: Put this fellow in prison and give him nothing but bread and water until I return safely.’”

You shall eat no leavened bread with it. You shall eat unleavened bread with it seven days, even the bread of affliction( for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste) that you may remember the day when you came out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life.

They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and have cast a stone on me.Waters flowed over my head. I said,“ I am cut off.”I called on your name, Yahweh, out of the lowest dungeon.

But if that servant says in his heart,‘ My lord delays his coming,’ and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken,then the lord of that servant will come in a day when he isn’t expecting him, and in an hour that he doesn’t know, and will cut him in two, and place his portion with the unfaithful.

For Herod himself had sent out and arrested John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, for he had married her.For John said to Herod,“ It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”Herodias set herself against him, and desired to kill him, but she couldn’t,for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and kept him safe. The king said to the young lady,“ Ask me whatever you want, and I will give it to you.”He swore to her,“ Whatever you shall ask of me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom.”She went out, and said to her mother,“ What shall I ask?” She said,“ The head of John the Baptizer.”She came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked,“ I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptizer on a platter.”The king was exceedingly sorry, but for the sake of his oaths, and of his dinner guests, he didn’t wish to refuse her.Immediately the king sent out a soldier of his guard, and commanded to bring John’s head, and he went and beheaded him in the prison,and brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the young lady; and the young lady gave it to her mother.

added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.

Though the Lord may give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers won’t be hidden any more, but your eyes will see your teachers;

Then Pashhur struck Jeremiah the prophet and put him in the stocks that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, which was in Yahweh’s house.

The princes were angry with Jeremiah, and struck him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that the prison.

Therefore also he sent for him more often and talked with him.But when two years were fulfilled, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, and desiring to gain favor with the Jews, Felix left Paul in bonds.
