大衛問那報信的年輕人：「你是哪裡的人？」他回答：「我是一個寄居者的兒子，是亞瑪力人。」大衛對他說：「你伸手殺害耶和華的受膏者，怎麼沒有畏懼呢？」於是大衛叫來一個僕人，說：「你過去殺了他！」那僕人擊殺他，他就死了。大衛對他說：「你的血歸到你自己頭上！因為你親口指證自己，說：『我殺了耶和華的受膏者。』」

大衛回應比錄人臨門的兒子利甲和他兄弟巴納，說：「我指著救贖我性命脫離一切患難的耶和華的永生起誓：曾經有人向我報信說『看哪，掃羅死了』，自以為是報好消息的，我尚且抓住他，在洗革拉把他殺了，作為對他報『好消息』的回報，更何況惡人把義人殺死在義人的家裡、在他自己的床上，我難道不會從你們手中追討殺他流血的罪，把你們從地上除滅嗎？」於是大衛吩咐僕人把他們殺了，砍斷他們的手腳，掛在希伯崙的水池旁邊，然後把伊施波設的頭拿去，葬在希伯崙押尼珥的墳墓裡。

他們離開了正道就被迷惑，隨從了比珥的兒子巴蘭的路——這巴蘭喜愛不義的酬報，

人雖然知道神的公義規定是：行這樣事的人是該死的；然而他們不僅自己去做，還贊同做這些事的人。
