以色列王回答說：『你們只要說：「才束上武裝的、休要像解掉了的來誇口。」』

以色列王说：“你告诉他说，才顶盔贯甲的，休要像摘盔卸甲的夸口。”

以色列王回答说：“你们告诉他说，‘刚束上腰带的，不要像已卸下的那样夸口。’”

以色列王回答说：“你们告诉他说，‘刚束上腰带的，不要像已卸下的那样夸口。’”

以色列王说：“你去告诉便·哈达，叫他别刚穿上盔甲就夸口，打完仗卸下盔甲再夸口吧。”

以色列王回答说：“你们去告诉他，佩戴武器的人，不可像解除武器的那样自夸。”

以色列王曰、爾告之云、披甲者、勿效卸甲者而誇、

以色列王對曰、卸甲之士可以凱歌、披甲之士勿效之。

以色列王曰、爾曹告之云、方披甲者勿自誇、卸甲者自誇可也、

The king of Israel answered,“ Tell him:‘ One who puts on his armor should not boast like one who takes it off.’”

The king of Israel replied. He said,“ Tell him,‘ Someone who puts his armor on shouldn’t brag like someone who takes it off.’ ”

And the king of Israel answered,“ Tell him,‘ Let not him who straps on his armor boast himself as he who takes it off.’”

The king of Israel sent back this answer:“ A warrior putting on his sword for battle should not boast like a warrior who has already won.”

The king of Israel answered,“ Say this:‘ Don’t let the one who puts on his armor boast like the one who takes it off.’”

Then the king of Israel replied,“ Tell him,‘ He who straps on his weapons had better not boast like one who takes them off.’ ”

So the king of Israel answered and said,“ Tell him,‘ Let not the one who puts on his armor boast like the one who takes it off.’”

And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that girdeth on his armor boast himself as he that putteth it off.

The king of Israel answered,“ Say this:‘ Don’t let the one who puts on his armor boast like the one who takes it off.’”

And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell[ him], Let not him that girdeth on[ his harness] boast himself as he that putteth it off.

The king of Israel replied,“ Tell him the one who puts on his battle gear should not boast like one who is taking it off.”

The king of Israel answered,“ Tell him,‘ Don’t let him who puts on his armor brag like he who takes it off.’”

不要為明日而誇張自己，因為一日要發生甚麼事、你尚且不知道呢。

彼得應時對耶穌說：『眾人雖會因着你而絆跌，我總不絆跌。』耶穌對彼得說：『就在今天晚上，雞叫以前，你就要三次否認我了。』彼得對耶穌說：『我就使必須跟你同死，也決不否認你。』眾門徒也都這樣說。

駐防營的人應時對約拿單和拿軍器的護兵喊着說：『你們上我們這裏來吧！有一件事我們要給你們知道。』約拿單就對拿軍器的護兵說：『你跟着我上去，因為永恆主將他們交在以色列人手裏了。』約拿單手腳匐在地上地爬上去，拿軍器的護兵跟着他；非利士人在約拿單面前倒下去，拿軍器的護兵也隨着殺死他們。

鑿子哪能向用鑿子的人炫耀自己？鋸子哪能向拉動鋸子的自大？好似棍子掄起那舉起棍子的，好似手杖舉起那不是木頭的呢？因此主萬軍之永恆主必打發消瘦去在亞述王的肥胖中，在他的威榮下就有燃燒燒起，如火燃燒一樣。

彼得想起了耶穌所說的話：『雞叫以前，你就要三次否認我了』；便出去痛哭。

約拿單對拿軍器的青年護兵說：『來，我們過去、到這些沒有受割禮的人的駐防營那裏去吧；或者永恆主能為我們作一件事，因為永恆主拯救人、是不受人多或人少所牽制的。』

那非利士人對大衛說：『你到我這裏來吧，我就將你的肉給空中的飛鳥和田野的走獸。』大衛對那非利士人說：『你來對我迎戰、是靠着刀矛短槍；我來對你迎戰、是靠着萬軍之永恆主耶和華的名、以色列陣營的上帝、就是你所辱罵的。今天永恆主必將你送交我手；我必擊殺你，取下你的頭；今天我必將非利士人軍兵的屍首給空中的飛鳥和地上的野獸喫；使全地都知道以色列有上帝；又使這大眾都知道永恆主使人得勝、不是用刀用矛；因為爭戰的勝敗全在於永恆主；他必將你們交在我們手裏。』

我又看：在日光之下、賽跑未必給輕快的先跑到，戰爭未必給勇士得勝利，糧食也未必給智慧人得着，財富未必給明達人賺得到，恩寵也未必給有知識的人博得着：他們所碰到的就只是定時與機會。
