耶和华与大卫同在，因此他事事成功。

非利士人的将领常来进犯，大卫每次作战总比扫罗的其他臣仆出色，因而倍受尊重。

他又在以东全境设驻军，以东人都臣服于他。耶和华使他无往而不胜。

耶和华与他同在，他凡事顺利。他反抗亚述王的统治，不再臣服于他。

有哪个伟大的民族拥有我今天所传授给你们的如此公义的律例和典章？

“以色列人啊，要聆听我传授给你们的律法，要切实遵行，以便你们可以存活，并进入你们祖先的上帝耶和华赐给你们的那片土地。

“你们的上帝耶和华吩咐我教导你们以下的诫命、律例和典章，以便你们在将要占领的土地上遵行。这样，你们就会得享长寿，你们及子孙就会终生敬畏你们的上帝耶和华，遵守祂借我吩咐你们的一切律例和诫命。

摩西把所有的以色列人召来，对他们说：“以色列人啊，要留心听我今天对你们宣讲的律例和典章，要学习并谨慎遵行。

你只要刚强勇敢，谨遵我仆人摩西所吩咐你的一切律法，毫不偏离，就可以无往不利。你要常常诵读这律法书，昼夜不断地思想，以便谨遵律法书上的一切指示。这样，你必亨通、顺利。

无论扫罗派大卫办什么事，他都表现出色。扫罗派他做军队的将领，民众和扫罗的臣仆都非常满意。
