Then he lay down and slept under the broom tree. But as he was sleeping, an angel touched him and told him,“ Get up and eat!”

Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said,“ Get up and eat.”

Then he lay down under the bush. And he fell asleep. Suddenly an angel touched him. The angel said,“ Get up and eat.”

And he lay down and slept under a broom tree. And behold, an angel touched him and said to him,“ Arise and eat.”

He stretched out and fell asleep under the shrub. All of a sudden an angelic messenger touched him and said,“ Get up and eat.”

At sundown he arrived at a good place to set up camp and stopped there for the night. Jacob found a stone to rest his head against and lay down to sleep.As he slept, he dreamed of a stairway that reached from the earth up to heaven. And he saw the angels of God going up and down the stairway.At the top of the stairway stood the Lord, and he said,“ I am the Lord, the God of your grandfather Abraham, and the God of your father, Isaac. The ground you are lying on belongs to you. I am giving it to you and your descendants.Your descendants will be as numerous as the dust of the earth! They will spread out in all directions— to the west and the east, to the north and the south. And all the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants.What’s more, I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you.”

Therefore, angels are only servants— spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.

Then he said,“ I am here to tell you what will happen later in the time of wrath. What you have seen pertains to the very end of time.

Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing.

As I was praying, Gabriel, whom I had seen in the earlier vision, came swiftly to me at the time of the evening sacrifice.

Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,“ I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”

Then I heard the man speak, and when I heard the sound of his voice, I fainted and lay there with my face to the ground.Just then a hand touched me and lifted me, still trembling, to my hands and knees.

For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him.

Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said,“ Quick! Get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists.
