Elijah replied,“ I have zealously served the Lord God Almighty. But the people of Israel have broken their covenant with you, torn down your altars, and killed every one of your prophets. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me, too.”

以利亚回答说：“我一向热心事奉万军之上帝耶和华。但以色列人背弃你的约，拆毁你的祭坛，残杀你的先知。现在只剩下我一个人，他们还要杀我。”

他说：“我为耶和华万军的神大发热心，因为以色列人背弃了你的约，拆毁了你的祭坛，用刀杀死了你的众先知，只剩下我一个人，他们还在寻索，要取去我的性命。”

他說：「我為耶和華－萬軍之神大發熱心；因為以色列人背棄了你的約，毀壞了你的壇，用刀殺了你的先知，只剩下我一個人，他們還要尋索我的命。」

他說：「我為耶和華－萬軍之神大發熱心，因為以色列人背棄了你的約，毀壞了你的壇，用刀殺了你的先知，只剩下我一人，他們還要追殺我。」

以利亞回答說：「我一向熱心事奉萬軍之上帝耶和華。但以色列人背棄你的約，拆毀你的祭壇，殘殺你的先知。現在只剩下我一個人，他們還要殺我。」

他說：“我為耶和華萬軍的神大發熱心，因為以色列人背棄了你的約，拆毀了你的祭壇，用刀殺死了你的眾先知，只剩下我一個人，他們還在尋索，要取去我的性命。”

以利亞說：『我為永恆主萬軍之上帝大發妒愛熱情，因為以色列人撇棄了你的約，翻毁了你的祭壇，用刀殺死你的神言人，只剩下我一個人，他們還想法子要我的命。』

He replied,“ I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.”

He replied,“ Lord God who rules over all, I’ve been very committed to you. The Israelites have turned their backs on your covenant. They have torn down your altars. They’ve put your prophets to death with their swords. I’m the only one left. And they are trying to kill me.”

He said,“ I have been very jealous for the Lord, the God of hosts. For the people of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am left, and they seek my life, to take it away.”

He replied,“ I have been very zealous for the LORD God of Armies, but the Israelites have abandoned your covenant, torn down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they are looking for me to take my life.”

And he said,“ I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of armies; for the sons of Israel have abandoned Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they have sought to take my life.”

So he said,“ I have been very zealous for the Lord God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.”

And he said, I have been very jealous for Jehovah, the God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword: and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

He replied,“ I have been very zealous for the Lord God of Hosts, but the Israelites have abandoned Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they are looking for me to take my life.”

And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I,[ even] I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

He answered,“ I have been absolutely loyal to the LORD, the sovereign God, even though the Israelites have abandoned the agreement they made with you, torn down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I alone am left and now they want to take my life.”

He said,“ I have been very jealous for Yahweh, the God of Armies; for the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.”

Once when Jezebel had tried to kill all the Lord’s prophets, Obadiah had hidden 100 of them in two caves. He put fifty prophets in each cave and supplied them with food and water.)

Then Elijah said to them,“ I am the only prophet of the Lord who is left, but Baal has 450 prophets.

In this covenant, I give him and his descendants a permanent right to the priesthood, for in his zeal for me, his God, he purified the people of Israel, making them right with me.”

Then Elijah called to the people,“ Come over here!” They all crowded around him as he repaired the altar of the Lord that had been torn down.

No, God has not rejected his own people, whom he chose from the very beginning. Do you realize what the Scriptures say about this? Elijah the prophet complained to God about the people of Israel and said,“ Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me, too.”And do you remember God’s reply? He said,“ No, I have 7,000 others who have never bowed down to Baal!”

You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected— even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me.

You must worship no other gods, for the Lord, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his relationship with you.

“ Phinehas son of Eleazar and grandson of Aaron the priest has turned my anger away from the Israelites by being as zealous among them as I was. So I stopped destroying all Israel as I had intended to do in my zealous anger.

He replied again,“ I have zealously served the Lord God Almighty. But the people of Israel have broken their covenant with you, torn down your altars, and killed every one of your prophets. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me, too.”

So Ahab summoned all the people of Israel and the prophets to Mount Carmel.

You keep only the laws of evil King Omri; you follow only the example of wicked King Ahab! Therefore, I will make an example of you, bringing you to complete ruin. You will be treated with contempt, mocked by all who see you.”

When Ahab saw him, he exclaimed,“ So, is it really you, you troublemaker of Israel?”

For I swear by the Lord your God that the king has searched every nation and kingdom on earth from end to end to find you. And each time he was told,‘ Elijah isn’t here,’ King Ahab forced the king of that nation to swear to the truth of his claim.

The people of Israel will be crushed and broken by my judgment because they are determined to worship idols.

I am overwhelmed with indignation, for my enemies have disregarded your words.

So Jezebel sent this message to Elijah:“ May the gods strike me and even kill me if by this time tomorrow I have not killed you just as you killed them.”

Then his disciples remembered this prophecy from the Scriptures:“ Passion for God’s house will consume me.”

Then a certain prophet came to see King Ahab of Israel and told him,“ This is what the Lord says: Do you see all these enemy forces? Today I will hand them all over to you. Then you will know that I am the Lord.”

Then the prophet quickly pulled the bandage from his eyes, and the king of Israel recognized him as one of the prophets.The prophet said to him,“ This is what the Lord says: Because you have spared the man I said must be destroyed, now you must die in his place, and your people will die instead of his people.”

The godly people have all disappeared; not one honest person is left on the earth. They are all murderers, setting traps even for their own brothers.

Passion for your house has consumed me, and the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.

“ I have punished your children, but they did not respond to my discipline. You yourselves have killed your prophets as a lion kills its prey.

Meanwhile, the Lord instructed one of the group of prophets to say to another man,“ Hit me!” But the man refused to hit the prophet.

The king of Israel replied to Jehoshaphat,“ There is one more man who could consult the Lord for us, but I hate him. He never prophesies anything but trouble for me! His name is Micaiah son of Imlah.” Jehoshaphat replied,“ That’s not the way a king should talk! Let’s hear what he has to say.”

Afterward the prophet said to King Ahab,“ Get ready for another attack. Begin making plans now, for the king of Aram will come back next spring.”
