They took the bull which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying,“ Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice, and nobody answered. They leaped about the altar which was made.

它們好像瓜田裏的稻草人，不能說話，必須被扛着，因為不能跨步走。你們不要怕它們；它們不能降禍，也無力降福。』

所以論到喫祭偶像之物這一件事、我們知道偶像在世上算不了甚麼，也知道除了一位上帝以外、沒有別的上帝。

你們知道、你們還未信教的時候、怎樣被帶走，隨事受牽引、去拜不能出聲的偶像。

你們呼求你們的神的名，我也呼求永恆主耶和華的名；那降火顯應的神，就是上帝。』眾民回答說：『這話很好。』

外國人的偶像是銀的或金的，是人的手所作的。他們有口、卻不能說話；有眼、卻不能看；有耳、卻不能聽；有鼻、卻不能聞；有手、卻不能摸；有腳、卻不能走路；也不能用喉嚨出聲。造它們的、正和它們一樣；凡倚靠它們的、正如它們一般。

『列國逃脫的人哪，集合攏來，一同走近前哦！那些抬着木頭雕像的、直禱告那不能救人之神的、毫無知識。

其剩下的他竟作了一座神像，就是雕像，而向它叩拜，向它敬拜，禱告說：『援救我吧，因為你是我的神！』

當那日我必察罰一切跳過門限的，察罰那些將強暴和詭詐充滿於其主上之房屋的。』

『你們禱告，不要嘮嘮叨叨、像外國人一樣；他們以為用了他們那種重複話，才可以蒙垂聽。

雕刻的偶像、塑造它的將它刻成、有甚麼益處？鑄造的偶像、虛假的導師、塑造它的將它塑成、造座啞巴神像去倚靠它、有甚麼益處？

竟對着天上的主高抬自己，叫人把他殿中的器皿拿到你面前，你和你大臣、王后、妃嬪竟用這些器皿來喝酒；你又稱頌那些金銀銅鐵、木頭石頭的神，就是那些不能看、不能聽、不能知道的；至於那手中執掌你氣息、那管理你一生行程的上帝、你卻不將尊榮歸與他。

那我是說甚麼呢？是說祭偶像之物算得了甚麼呢？還是說偶像算得了甚麼呢？我乃是說外國人所祭獻的、是祭獻給鬼，不是獻與上帝。我不願意你們成了有分於鬼的人。

列國的偶像是銀的、金的，是人的手造的。它們有口卻不能說話；有眼卻不能看；有耳卻不能側耳以聽；它們口中也沒有氣息。造它們的、正和它們一樣；凡倚靠它們的、正如它們一般。以色列家啊，要祝頌永恆主；亞倫家啊，要祝頌永恆主；利未家啊，要祝頌永恆主；敬畏永恆主的啊，要祝頌永恆主。
