He followed completely the ways of Jeroboam son of Nebat, committing the same sin Jeroboam had caused Israel to commit, so that they aroused the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel, by their worthless idols.

He lived the way Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, had lived. He committed the same sin Jeroboam had caused Israel to commit. Israel made the Lord very angry. They did it by worshiping worthless statues of gods. The Lord is the God of Israel.

異邦虛無之物、有能降雨者乎、天能自施甘霖乎、我之上帝耶和華歟、行此者非爾乎、故我仰望爾、蓋此諸事、皆爾所為也、

意謂此國將歸大衛家、倘斯民往耶路撒冷、獻祭於耶和華室、其心必歸厥主猶大王羅波安、則殺我而歸彼、王既籌思、乃作金犢二、告民曰、爾曹上耶路撒冷甚難、以色列人歟、導爾出埃及之神即此、遂置一犢於伯特利、一犢於但、此事陷人於罪、因民往但、崇拜其一、王於崇邱建廟、由眾民中、不屬利未族者、簡立祭司、又設節期於八月之望、若猶大之節期、而登其壇、在伯特利亦如是、獻祭於所作之犢、以所立為邱壇之祭司、置於伯特利、八月之望、即以己意所定之期、詣伯特利所作之壇、為以色列族設筵、登壇焚香、

耶和華藉哈拿尼子先知耶戶、責巴沙及其家、因其行耶和華所惡、以其手所為、激厥震怒、效耶羅波安家、而殺其人、○

耶和華歟、爾為我力、我之保障、我難中之避所、列邦必自地極而至、曰、我祖所承者、莫非妄誕虛偽無益之物、

列邦之例虛偽、有人由林伐木、匠人以斧製之、

耶羅波安雖遇此事、仍不悛其惡行、復由眾民中、簡立崇邱之祭司、凡欲之者、則區別之、使為崇邱祭司、是事陷耶羅波安家於罪、以致滅絕於地上、

凡務虛無者、為我所惡、我惟耶和華是賴兮、

昔我舉爾於塵埃、立為我民以色列之君、而爾行耶羅波安之道、使我民以色列陷罪、激我之怒、

惟我民忘我、焚香於虛無之物、蹶於故轍、致行未築之路、

彼皆冥頑無知、偶像之道、惟木而已、

諸君何行此乎、我儕亦人、與爾同情、特宣福音予爾、使去此虛妄、歸於維生上帝、即造天地海、及其中之萬有者、

有我民女哀號之聲、來自遠方、曰、耶和華不在錫安乎、厥王不在其中乎、曰、彼胡為以雕像、及異邦之虛物、激我怒耶、
