他的妻子对他说：“你仍然持守你的纯正吗？你背弃上帝，死了吧！”约伯却对她说：“你说话，正如愚顽的妇人。唉！难道我们从上帝手里得福，不也受祸吗？”在这一切的事上，约伯并没有以口犯罪。

他就急忙叫拿他兵器的青年来，对他说：“拔出你的刀来，杀了我吧！免得有人提到我说：‘他被一个妇人杀了。’”于是那青年把他刺透，他就死了。
