For David had done what was right in the eyes of the Lord and had not failed to keep any of the Lord’s commands all the days of his life— except in the case of Uriah the Hittite.

David had done what was right in the sight of the Lord. He had kept all the Lord’ s commands. He had obeyed them all the days of his life. But he hadn’t obeyed the Lord in the case of Uriah, the Hittite.

何藐視我我原文作主命、行惡於我我原文作主前、藉亞捫人之刀、殺赫人烏利亞而娶其妻為妻、爾既藐視我、娶赫人烏利亞之妻為妻、故刀劍永不離爾家、或作故爾家中恆有刃擊之事

大衛遣人問婦為誰、或曰、以連之女、赫人烏利亞之妻拔示巴、大衛遣人取之、婦既至、大衛與之同寢、婦蒙不潔、浴而歸其家、或作婦方因月經沐浴潔身大衛遣人取之婦既至大衛與之同寢婦遂歸家

蓋大衛在世時、遵天主旨而盡其職、其後乃逝、逝原文作寢歸於列祖而朽壞、

約西亞行善於主前、諸事效其祖大衛所行、不偏於左、不偏於右、

求天主按主之恩惠矜恤我、以主大憐憫、塗抹我之愆尤、

我仰觀主之一切誡命、必不至於羞愧、

亞比安行其父昔所行之諸惡、其心不似祖大衛之心誠實向主其天主、

行善於主前、效其祖大衛所為、不偏於左、不偏於右、

既廢之、遂舉大衛為王、譽譽原文作證之曰、我遇耶西子大衛、乃合我心之人、凡事將遵我旨、
