He even deposed his grandmother Maakah from her position as queen mother, because she had made a repulsive image for the worship of Asherah. Asa cut it down and burned it in the Kidron Valley.

He even removed his grandmother Maakah from her position as queen mother. That’s because she had made a pole used to worship the female god named Asherah. The Lord hated it. So Asa cut it down. He burned it in the Kidron Valley.

以所造之犢、焚以火、搗為粉、灑於水、令以色列人飲之、

以色列人以火燬城、與其中所有、惟金銀及銅鐵器皿、收於主殿之府庫、

我未嘗一時服之、為使福音之真、恆存於爾中、至於有名者、不論何人、皆與我無與、天主不以貌取人、彼有名者、於我無所增益、

如爾同母之兄弟、或爾子女、或爾愛妻、或爾密友、暗誘爾曰、我儕莫若往事異邦之神、此神即爾與爾祖素所未識者、即爾四周諸國之民所事之神、或離爾近、或離爾遠、自地此極至地彼極、爾毋從之、毋聽之、爾目毋顧惜之、毋矜恤之、毋隱其尤、必殺毋赦、殺之之時、爾先擊之、民後擊之、當以石擊之死、因欲誘爾違逆主爾之天主、即自伊及爾為奴之地導爾出者、以色列眾聞之必畏懼、不復行若是之惡事於爾中、○

爾取罪之物、即所作之犢像、我焚之以火、擣碎磨細、成為細塵、以其塵灑於由山流下之溪、

耶穌言此既畢、偕門徒過汲淪溪、在彼有一園、耶穌與門徒入焉、

猶大人緣此事甚喜、皆盡心立誓、盡意求主、而主為其所得、主使之四周平康、亞撒之祖母瑪迦、作女神亞舍拉之偶像、故貶其太后之位、斫其偶像、搗之成粉、焚於汲淪溪旁、所有邱壇、雖尚未廢於以色列人中、然亞撒畢生誠心向主、以父所區別為聖、及己所區別為聖之金銀與器皿、進奉於天主殿、自是時至亞撒三十五年、無爭戰之事、

因遵主命、守主約、論及父母、亦能言我未見之、不認兄弟、不識子女、

都耶路撒冷、在位四十一年、其祖母名瑪迦、乃押沙龍之女、

愛父母過於愛我者、不堪為我徒、愛子女過於愛我者、不堪為我徒、

猶大列王在亞哈斯樓頂上、所建之祭壇、及瑪拿西在主殿之兩院中所建之祭壇、王悉毀之、速以其塵土傾於汲淪溪畔、昔以色列王所羅門、在耶路撒冷前、邪僻山邪僻山或作油果山右、為西頓人可憎之神亞斯大錄、摩押人可憎之神基抹、亞捫族可憎之神米勒公、建諸邱壇、王悉污之、碎諸石像、斫諸亞舍拉、亞舍拉或作木偶以骸骨充於其所、昔尼八子耶羅波安、使以色列人陷於罪者、在伯特利作祭壇、立邱壇、約西亞毀其祭壇與邱壇、又焚邱壇之室、搗之成粉、並焚亞舍拉、或作又毀伯特利之壇即昔尼八子耶羅波安使以色列人陷於罪者所作之邱壇又焚邱壇之室搗之成粉並焚亞舍拉

故此後我不以外貌認人、雖曾以外貌認基督、今後不復如此認之、

眾民過時、斯地之人、大聲而哭、王渡汲淪溪、民眾悉過、望曠野而進、

廢邱壇、毀諸柱像、斫亞舍拉、擊碎摩西所作之銅蛇、蓋至於斯時、以色列人向銅蛇焚香、稱之曰尼胡施坦、尼胡施坦譯即銅蛇像之義

我見其行不正、不遵福音之真、乃於眾前謂磯法曰、爾猶太人也、既行如異邦人、非如猶太人、何又強異邦人、行如猶太人乎、

爾當毀其壇、碎其柱像、斫其諸亞舍拉、亞舍拉或作木偶以火焚其偶像、爾之待彼當如是、

都耶路撒冷、在位三年、其母名瑪迦、乃押沙龍之女、

如復有人妄言未來事、妄言未來事或作妄述預言則生之之父母必責之曰、爾佯託主名而言、必不得生、生之之父母、必因其言未來事言末來事或作傳述預言下同刺之、

王使人毀巴力祭臺、斫高設其上之日像、斫諸亞舍拉、碎諸偶像、及鎔鑄之形像、搗之成粉、撒於祭偶像者之塚、
