凡你所要趕出的列國人事奉他們的神的各地方、無論是在高山、是在山岡、或是在各茂盛樹下、你們都要徹底毁壞；

你們這在聖篤耨香樹中間、在各茂盛樹下慾火焚燒，在谿谷間，在碞穴下宰殺親生孩子的？

你又為自己建造圓頂花樓，為自己在各廣場上作了高臺；你在各路頭建造你的高臺，使你的美麗變為可厭惡，你又向一切過路人展開雙腿增多你的淫亂。

以色列人暗暗地行了不對的事、違背永恆主他們的上帝，在他們所有的城市、從瞭望人的譙樓、到有堡壘的城、他們都築了邱壇；又在各高岡上、各茂盛樹下、立了崇拜柱子和亞舍拉神木；

他重新建築了他父親希西家所毁壞的邱壇，又為外國神巴力立了幾座祭壇，又造了一根亞舍拉神木，像以色列王亞哈所行的，並且敬拜事奉了天上的萬象。他竟又在永恆主殿中為外族的神築了祭壇；這殿就是永恆主曾指着說：『我必立我名在耶路撒冷』的。瑪拿西在永恆主之殿的兩院中為天上的萬象築了祭壇。並將他的兒子用火燒獻為祭，又算命，又觀兆頭，又行交鬼的事和巫術；多行永恆主所看為壞的事、而惹他發怒。又將他所造的亞舍拉神木的雕像立在聖殿中；這殿卻是永恆主曾對大衛和大衛兒子所羅門指着說：『是在這殿、並在我從以色列眾族派中所選擇的耶路撒冷、我要立我的名到永遠的。

因為我領他們到我舉手起誓要給他們的地，他們看見各高山各茂密樹，就在那裏宰獻他們的祭物，在那裏奉上惹我發怒的供物，在那裏燒上他們怡神之香氣，在那裏澆上他們的奠祭。（我問他們說：你們所去的那高處叫做甚麼？於是那高處的名字便叫做巴麻直到今日。）

而他們的兒女又懷念着他們的祭壇和亞舍拉神木，在茂盛樹旁、在高岡上、

永恆主必擊打以色列人，使他們像蘆荻在水中搖動一樣；也必將他們從永恆主賜給他們列祖這美好土地上拔出來，叫他們四散在大河那邊，因為他們立了亞舍拉神木、來惹永恆主發怒。

我必從你中間拔出你的亞舍拉神木，掃滅你各種的偶像。

『你們不可給自己作偶相，不可給自己立雕像和柱像，也不可在你們境內安上鏨像的石頭去跪拜；因為我永恆主是你們的上帝。

『因為你從古時就折斷了你的軛，掙開了你的繩索，說：「我不事奉永恆主了」；因為你在各高岡上各茂盛樹下屈身行淫。

他並且在邱壇上、在山岡上、和各茂盛樹下宰牲燻祭。

不可為自己立崇拜柱子、就是永恆主你的上帝所恨惡的。

你只要承認你的罪孽，承認你怎樣悖逆了永恆主你的上帝，在各茂盛樹下向外族人的神東奔西跑，沒有聽從我的聲音：這是永恆主發神諭說的。

不過，人民仍然在邱壇上獻祭，因為那些日子以前、還沒有為永恆主耶和華的名而建殿。
