And the Lord will strike Israel, so that it will be like a reed swaying in the water. He will uproot Israel from this good land that he gave to their ancestors and scatter them beyond the Euphrates River, because they aroused the Lord’s anger by making Asherah poles.

I, the Lord, will strike down Israel. Israel will be like tall grass swaying in the water. I will pull Israel up from this good land by the roots. I gave it to their people who lived long ago. I will scatter Israel to the east side of the Euphrates River. That is because they made the Lord very angry. They made poles used to worship the female god named Asherah.

主爾天主所許爾之福、既俱臨爾、主亦能使諸禍臨爾、滅爾於主爾天主所賜爾之美地、如爾背主爾天主所命之約、事奉叩拜異邦之神、異邦之神或作他神則主必向爾震怒、使爾速亡於所賜爾之美地、

以色列王比加在位時、亞述王提革拉毘列色來取以雲、亞伯伯瑪迦、亞挪、基叠、夏瑣、基列、加利利、拿弗他利全地、以其居民擄至亞述、

天主必將爾毀滅至於永遠、除爾、拔爾於爾居所、居所原文作幕除爾根於世間、細拉、

爾必毀其祭壇、摧其柱像、斫其亞舍拉、亞舍拉或作木偶毋崇拜他神、因我耶和華稱為忌邪者、乃忌邪之天主、

毀其祭壇、碎其柱像、以火焚其諸亞舍拉、亞舍拉或作木偶斫其諸神之偶像、滅其名於斯地、爾曹不可效彼所行、以奉事主爾之天主、

惟彼惡人、必見絕於地、悖逆悖逆或作奸詐下同者必由地而被黜、

以致主逐以色列人離於其前、循主籍其僕眾先知所言、於是以色列人被擄、離故土而至亞述、迄於今日、○

昔有亞摩利人、高若柏香木、強如橡樹、我翦滅之於以色列人前、上剝其果、下毀其根、

昔主善待爾、使爾眾多、是主所喜、厥後主殲滅爾、使爾盡亡、絕絕原文作見拔於爾所往欲得之地、亦主所喜、主將散爾於萬國中、自地之此極、至地之彼極、在彼必事異邦之神、木石所作、即爾與爾祖所未識者、爾在異邦、必不得安、不得立足之地、主必在彼使爾心恐目盲、衷懷憂患、爾之生命懸寄危境、晝夜驚惶、自料難保生命、爾因心之所懼、目之所見、朝必曰、願得及暮、暮必曰、願得及朝、往伊及之途、我曾告爾曰、爾必不復見之、主必使爾駕舟復至伊及、在彼自鬻自鬻或作被賣於敵為奴為婢、而無人欲購、

彼與列邦人皆必問曰、主何為如此待此地、其怒若是之烈何故、人必對曰、緣斯民列祖之主天主、昔導之出伊及、與之立約而民背之、往奉事叩拜異邦之神、即素所不識之神、主未嘗命彼奉事者、故主震怒斯地、以此書所載之諸禍禍或作詛降之、大震其怒、氣忿甚烈、以斯民由其地拔除、投棄於異邦、有如今日之事、

主必以爾及爾所立治爾之王、攜至爾與爾祖素未識之國、在彼爾必奉事異邦之神、木石所作者、

迦薩必荒蕪、荒蕪或作無人居處亞實基倫必變為荒墟、亞實突居民、當日中之時、必遭驅逐、以革倫必拔其根株、以革倫必拔其根株或作以革倫必被拆毀至於基址

若爾行惡、則爾與爾之王一並滅亡、

猶大人亦在各高岡上、各茂樹下、築壇、立柱像與亞舍拉、亞舍拉或作木偶其地亦有頑童、猶大人效主在以色列人前所逐之列族、行可憎之事、

約翰所遣之人去後、耶穌向眾論約翰曰、爾昔出野欲何觀耶、觀葦動於風乎、

悖逆者與獲罪者、同歸敗亡、凡棄主者必至消滅、爾必因所悅之橡樹抱愧、因所擇之園囿蒙羞、

使爾土地荒蕪、甚至居爾地之仇敵、無不驚異、我必散爾於異邦人中、使爾為兵刃所追、使爾土地荒蕪、使爾城邑變為荒墟、爾寄居敵國、爾地荒蕪、此時地自可休息享安息年、

乃敢作惡、較在爾先者尤甚、為己立他神、鑄偶像、干犯我怒、違棄我、

爾又舁摩洛之龕、與爾神臉番之星、即爾所造之像欲拜之者、我將徙爾於巴比倫外、

因此我將使爾見擄於大瑪色外、主已言之矣、其名萬有之天主、
