And the Lord will strike Israel, so that it will be like a reed swaying in the water. He will uproot Israel from this good land that he gave to their ancestors and scatter them beyond the Euphrates River, because they aroused the Lord’s anger by making Asherah poles.

I, the Lord, will strike down Israel. Israel will be like tall grass swaying in the water. I will pull Israel up from this good land by the roots. I gave it to their people who lived long ago. I will scatter Israel to the east side of the Euphrates River. That is because they made the Lord very angry. They made poles used to worship the female god named Asherah.

Then the Lord will shake Israel like a reed whipped about in a stream. He will uproot the people of Israel from this good land that he gave their ancestors and will scatter them beyond the Euphrates River, for they have angered the Lord with the Asherah poles they have set up for worship.

For the LORD will strike Israel so that they will shake as a reed shakes in water. He will uproot Israel from this good soil that he gave to their ancestors. He will scatter them beyond the Euphrates because they made their Asherah poles, angering the LORD.

The LORD will attack Israel, making it like a reed that sways in the water. He will remove Israel from this good land he gave to their ancestors and scatter them beyond the Euphrates River, because they angered the LORD by making Asherah poles.

正如你們的上帝耶和華已成就祂應許給你們的一切福氣，如果你們違背祂，祂必照樣降各樣災禍給你們，直到把你們從祂所賜的這美好土地上毀滅。你們如果違背你們的上帝耶和華吩咐你們遵守的約，去供奉、祭拜別的神明，祂必向你們發怒，使你們在祂所賜的這美好土地上迅速滅亡。」

以色列王比加執政期間，亞述王提革拉·毗列色來犯，奪取了以雲、亞伯·伯·瑪迦、亞挪、基低斯和夏瑣，佔領了基列、加利利及拿弗他利全境，把那裡的居民擄往亞述。

上帝必永遠毀滅你，祂必抓住你，把你從家裡拉出來，從活人之地剷除。（細拉）

相反，要拆掉他們的祭壇，打碎他們的神柱，砍掉他們的亞舍拉神像。不可拜別的神明，因為耶和華是痛恨不貞的上帝，祂名為『痛恨不貞』。」

你們要拆毀他們的祭壇，打碎他們的神柱，焚燒他們的亞舍拉神像，砍倒他們的偶像，使它們的名字從那裡消失。你們不可按照他們的方式敬拜你們的上帝耶和華。

惡人必遭滅絕，奸徒必被剷除。

直到耶和華把他們從自己眼前趕走，正如祂藉自己的僕人——眾先知對他們的警告。這樣，以色列人被擄到亞述，至今仍住在那裡。

否則，今天我叫天地作證，你們必很快從約旦河對面將要佔領的土地上滅亡，你們必被徹底消滅，不得在那裡長久居住。耶和華必把你們驅散到列邦，使你們在列邦中的人數所剩無幾。

「以色列人啊，我在你們面前消滅了亞摩利人。雖然他們像香柏樹那樣高大，如橡樹那樣強壯，但我滅盡了他們的果子，砍斷了他們的根。

正如耶和華喜歡賜福你們，使你們人丁興旺，祂也同樣會不惜消滅你們，使你們在將要佔領的土地上滅亡。「耶和華要把你們分散到天下萬邦，你們要在那裡供奉祖祖輩輩素不認識的木石神像。你們在萬邦中將不得安寧，沒有落腳之地，耶和華必使你們膽戰心驚、目光呆滯、精神頹廢。你們必惴惴不安，晝夜恐懼，生死難料。你們必看見可怕之事，以致心中充滿恐懼，早上盼望天黑，晚上盼望天亮。耶和華必沿著我曾說你們再不會走的路線，用船把你們送回埃及。你們將在那裡賣身做敵人的僕婢，卻無人買。」

萬國必問，『耶和華為什麼要這樣對待這地方？祂為什麼大發烈怒？』必有人回答說，『因為這地方的人背棄了他們祖先的上帝耶和華領他們出埃及時與他們所立的約，去供奉、祭拜他們所不認識、並非耶和華所分派的神明。因此，耶和華向這片土地發怒，把這書上的一切咒詛都降在這裡。耶和華盛怒之下把他們從這地方連根拔起，扔到別的地方，正如今日的情形。』

「耶和華要帶你們和你們的王到一個你們和你們祖先都不知道的國家，你們要在那裡供奉木石神像。

迦薩必被拋棄，亞實基倫必淪為廢墟，亞實突的居民必在中午被趕走，以革倫必被連根拔除。

可是，如果你們仍然繼續行惡，你們和你們的王都必滅亡。」

何細亞執政第九年，撒瑪利亞淪陷。亞述王把以色列人擄到亞述，安置在哈臘、歌散的哈博河一帶以及瑪代人的各城。以色列人之所以有如此下場，是因為他們的上帝耶和華領他們出埃及，從埃及王法老手中救出他們，他們卻犯罪得罪祂。他們祭拜別的神明，

土地被他們離棄，荒無人煙，得享安息。他們卻要因拒絕遵守我的典章、厭棄我的律例而飽受懲罰。

他們在各高崗上、樹蔭下為自己建造邱壇，豎立神柱和亞舍拉神像，國中甚至男廟妓充斥。猶大人仿效耶和華在以色列人面前趕走的外族人，行各種可憎之事。

約翰的門徒離去後，耶穌對眾人談論約翰，說：「你們從前去曠野要看什麼呢？看隨風搖動的蘆葦嗎？

但叛逆之輩和犯罪之徒必遭毀滅，背棄耶和華的人必滅亡。你們必因在橡樹下，在你們選擇的園子裡祭拜偶像而蒙羞。

他們離開後，耶穌對眾人談起約翰，說：「你們從前去曠野要看什麼呢？看隨風搖動的蘆葦嗎？

亞述王把以色列人擄到亞述，將他們安置在哈臘、歌散的哈博河一帶以及瑪代人的城邑裡。這都是因為以色列人沒有聽從他們的上帝耶和華，違背了祂的約，不遵行祂僕人摩西所吩咐的一切。

耶穌回答說：「凡不是我天父栽種的都要被連根拔起來。

我要使你們的土地荒廢，連佔據那裡的敵人也為此而震驚。我要把你們驅散到各國，還要拔刀追殺你們。你們的土地將荒廢，城邑將淪為廢墟。你們被擄到敵國的時候，你們的土地將荒廢，享受安息。

反而比前人行惡更甚，為自己設立其他神明，鑄造神像，惹我發怒，把我拋在腦後。

你們抬著為自己所造的神像，就是摩洛的帳篷和理番神明的星，祭拜它們，所以我要把你們趕到比巴比倫還遠的地方去。』

所以，我要使你們被擄到大馬士革以外的地方。」這是耶和華說的，祂的名字是萬軍之上帝。
