因為他自從使以色列從大衛家分裂出來後，他們就立了尼八的兒子耶羅波安作王，耶羅波安卻引誘以色列人不去跟從耶和華，又使他們犯了大罪。

耶羅波安心裡說：“現在這國仍然要歸回大衛家。

可是耶戶沒有盡心遵行耶和華以色列神的律法，離棄耶羅波安使以色列人陷於罪中的那些罪。

正義護衛行為完全的人；邪惡卻使犯罪的人傾覆。
