神人遵照耶和華的話向壇呼叫，說：「壇哪，壇哪！耶和華如此說：『看哪，大衛家必生一個兒子，名叫約西亞，他必將在你上面燒香的丘壇祭司，宰殺在你上面，人的骨頭也必燒在你上面。』」

我要摧毀你們的丘壇，砍掉你們的香壇，把你們的屍首扔在你們偶像的殘骸上。我的心也必厭惡你們，

耶羅波安在一些丘壇建神殿，立不屬利未人的平民百姓為祭司。

約西亞轉頭，看見山上的墳墓，就派人取出墳墓裏的骸骨，燒在壇上，玷污了壇，正如從前耶羅波安在節期中站在壇旁時，耶和華藉神人所宣告的話。約西亞轉頭看見了宣告這些話的神人的墳墓。他說：「我看見的這碑是甚麼呢？」那城裏的人對他說：「這是神人的墳墓，他從猶大來，宣告了王向伯特利的壇所做的這些事。」約西亞說：「讓他安息吧！不要挪移他的骸骨。」他們就保存了他的骸骨和從撒瑪利亞來的那先知的骸骨。從前以色列諸王在撒瑪利亞的城鎮所建一切惹動怒氣的丘壇的廟，約西亞也都廢去了，正如他在伯特利所做的。

但亞瑪謝所打發回去、不許一同出征的那些軍兵劫掠猶大各城，從撒瑪利亞直到伯‧和崙，殺了三千人，搶了許多財物。
