I want you to do that because he announced a message from the Lord. He spoke against the altar in Bethel. He also spoke against all the temples that are on the high places. They are in the towns of Samaria. What the man of God said will certainly come true.”

神人憑着永恆主的話攻擊那祭壇而喊叫、說：『壇哪，壇哪，永恆主這麼說：「大衛王室必生個兒子、名叫約西亞；他必將邱壇的祭司、就是在你上面燻祭的、宰殺在你上面；人必將人的骨頭燒在你上面。」』

我必破毁你們的邱壇，砍下你們的香壇，把你們的屍身扔在你們的偶像的屍身上；我的心必厭棄你們。

耶羅波安造了邱壇上的殿，將不屬利未子孫範圍內的平常人立為祭司。

約西亞轉過臉來，看見山上那裏的墳墓，就打發人將骸骨從墳墓裏取出來，燒在祭壇上，使壇成了凡俗，正如永恆主的話、就是宣傳這些事的神人所宣傳過的。約西亞問說：『我所看見在那裏的是甚麼標記呢？』那城裏的人對他說：『那是個神人的墳墓；他先前從猶大來，將王現在向伯特利祭壇所行的事豫先宣傳出來。』約西亞說：『由他吧；人都不要挪移他的骸骨。』於是人就不去動他的骸骨，也不去動那從撒瑪利亞來的神言人的骸骨。從前以色列諸王在撒瑪利亞城市所建築的邱壇廟來惹永恆主發怒的、現在約西亞都廢去；他對這些廟宇所行的、都照他在伯特利所行的作法一樣。

但亞瑪謝所打發回去、不許同去作戰的雇傭軍人：竟衝過來侵犯猶大各城，從撒瑪利亞直到伯和崙，擊殺了三千人，又掠劫了許多掠物。

他就把牛犢一隻立在伯特利，一隻安在但。
