暗利用二他连得银子向撒玛买了撒玛利亚山，在山上造城，就按着山的原主撒玛的名，给所造的城起名叫撒玛利亚。

神人奉耶和华的命向坛呼叫，说：“坛哪，坛哪！耶和华如此说：大卫家里必生一个儿子，名叫约西亚，他必将邱坛的祭司，就是在你上面烧香的，杀在你上面，人的骨头也必烧在你上面。”

我又要毁坏你们的邱坛，砍下你们的日像，把你们的尸首扔在你们偶像的身上；我的心也必厌恶你们。

耶罗波安在邱坛那里建殿，将那不属利未人的凡民立为祭司。

约西亚回头，看见山上的坟墓，就打发人将坟墓里的骸骨取出来，烧在坛上，污秽了坛，正如从前神人宣传耶和华的话。约西亚问说：“我所看见的是什么碑？”那城里的人回答说：“先前有神人从犹大来，预先说王现在向伯特利坛所行的事，这就是他的墓碑。”约西亚说：“由他吧！不要挪移他的骸骨。”他们就不动他的骸骨，也不动从撒玛利亚来那先知的骸骨。从前以色列诸王在撒玛利亚的城邑建筑邱坛的殿，惹动耶和华的怒气，现在约西亚都废去了，就如他在伯特利所行的一般；

但亚玛谢所打发回去、不许一同出征的那些军兵攻打犹大各城，从撒玛利亚直到伯和仑，杀了三千人，抢了许多财物。

他就把牛犊一只安在伯特利，一只安在但。

和尊大的亚斯那巴所迁移、安置在撒玛利亚城，并大河西一带地方的人等，

必须经过撒玛利亚，于是到了撒玛利亚的一座城，名叫叙加，靠近雅各给他儿子约瑟的那块地。
