Then at the Lord’s command, he shouted,“ O altar, altar! This is what the Lord says: A child named Josiah will be born into the dynasty of David. On you he will sacrifice the priests from the pagan shrines who come here to burn incense, and human bones will be burned on you.”

神人憑着永恆主的話攻擊那祭壇而喊叫、說：『壇哪，壇哪，永恆主這麼說：「大衛王室必生個兒子、名叫約西亞；他必將邱壇的祭司、就是在你上面燻祭的、宰殺在你上面；人必將人的骨頭燒在你上面。」』

By the word of the Lord he cried out against the altar:“ Altar, altar! This is what the Lord says:‘ A son named Josiah will be born to the house of David. On you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who make offerings here, and human bones will be burned on you.’”

The man cried out. He shouted a message from the Lord against the altar. He said,“ Altar! Altar! The Lord says,‘ A son named Josiah will be born into the royal family of David. Altar, listen to me! Josiah will sacrifice the priests of the high places on you. They will be the children of the priests who are offering sacrifices here. So human bones will be burned on you.’ ”

And the man cried against the altar by the word of the Lord and said,“ O altar, altar, thus says the Lord:‘ Behold, a son shall be born to the house of David, Josiah by name, and he shall sacrifice on you the priests of the high places who make offerings on you, and human bones shall be burned on you.’”

The man of God cried out against the altar by the word of the LORD:“ Altar, altar, this is what the LORD says,‘ A son will be born to the house of David, named Josiah, and he will sacrifice on you the priests of the high places who are burning incense on you. Human bones will be burned on you.’”

Then he cried out against the altar by the word of the Lord, and said,“ O altar, altar! Thus says the Lord:‘ Behold, a child, Josiah by name, shall be born to the house of David; and on you he shall sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and men’s bones shall be burned on you.’”

And he cried against the altar by the word of Jehovah, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith Jehovah: Behold, a son shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he sacrifice the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men’s bones shall they burn upon thee.

The man of God cried out against the altar by a revelation from the Lord:“ Altar, altar, this is what the Lord says,‘ A son will be born to the house of David, named Josiah, and he will sacrifice on you the priests of the high places who are burning incense on you. Human bones will be burned on you.’”

And he cried against the altar in the word of the LORD, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the LORD; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men’s bones shall be burnt upon thee.

With the authority of the LORD he cried out against the altar,“ O altar, altar! This is what the LORD says,‘ Look, a son named Josiah will be born to the Davidic dynasty. He will sacrifice on you the priests of the high places who offer sacrifices on you. Human bones will be burned on you.’”

He cried against the altar by Yahweh’s word, and said,“ Altar! Altar! Yahweh says:‘ Behold, a son will be born to David’s house, Josiah by name. On you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and they will burn men’s bones on you.’”

“ Listen, O heavens, and I will speak! Hear, O earth, the words that I say!

“ Son of man, prophesy to Israel’s mountains. Give them this message: O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord!

He ordered that the altars of Baal be demolished and that the incense altars which stood above them be broken down. He also made sure that the Asherah poles, the carved idols, and the cast images were smashed and scattered over the graves of those who had sacrificed to them.He burned the bones of the pagan priests on their own altars, and so he purified Judah and Jerusalem.He did the same thing in the towns of Manasseh, Ephraim, and Simeon, even as far as Naphtali, and in the regions all around them.He destroyed the pagan altars and the Asherah poles, and he crushed the idols into dust. He cut down all the incense altars throughout the land of Israel. Finally, he returned to Jerusalem.

Listen, O heavens! Pay attention, earth! This is what the Lord says:“ The children I raised and cared for have rebelled against me.

Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty one years. His mother was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah from Bozkath.He did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight and followed the example of his ancestor David. He did not turn away from doing what was right.

That is why I told you what would happen; I told you beforehand what I was going to do. Then you could never say,‘ My idols did it. My wooden image and metal god commanded it to happen!’You have heard my predictions and seen them fulfilled, but you refuse to admit it. Now I will tell you new things, secrets you have not yet heard.They are brand new, not things from the past. So you cannot say,‘ We knew that all the time!’

“ Shout with the voice of a trumpet blast. Shout aloud! Don’t be timid. Tell my people Israel of their sins!

O earth, earth, earth! Listen to this message from the Lord!

The king also tore down the altar at Bethel— the pagan shrine that Jeroboam son of Nebat had made when he caused Israel to sin. He burned down the shrine and ground it to dust, and he burned the Asherah pole.Then Josiah turned around and noticed several tombs in the side of the hill. He ordered that the bones be brought out, and he burned them on the altar at Bethel to desecrate it.( This happened just as the Lord had promised through the man of God when Jeroboam stood beside the altar at the festival.) Then Josiah turned and looked up at the tomb of the man of God who had predicted these things.“ What is that monument over there?” Josiah asked. And the people of the town told him,“ It is the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and predicted the very things that you have just done to the altar at Bethel!”Josiah replied,“ Leave it alone. Don’t disturb his bones.” So they did not burn his bones or those of the old prophet from Samaria.

But I carry out the predictions of my prophets! By them I say to Jerusalem,‘ People will live here again,’ and to the towns of Judah,‘ You will be rebuilt; I will restore all your ruins!’When I speak to the rivers and say,‘ Dry up!’ they will be dry.When I say of Cyrus,‘ He is my shepherd,’ he will certainly do as I say. He will command,‘ Rebuild Jerusalem’; he will say,‘ Restore the Temple.’”

Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.

He replied,“ If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!”

Therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Sovereign Lord. He speaks to the hills and mountains, ravines and valleys, and to ruined wastes and long deserted cities that have been destroyed and mocked by the surrounding nations.

For the message the Lord told him to proclaim against the altar in Bethel and against the pagan shrines in the towns of Samaria will certainly come true.”

I will turn you around and put hooks in your jaws to lead you out with your whole army— your horses and charioteers in full armor and a great horde armed with shields and swords.

Everything I prophesied has come true, and now I will prophesy again. I will tell you the future before it happens.”

Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem thirty one years.
