故此永恆主對他說：『你既以這事為念，不遵守我的約和律例、就是我所吩咐你守的，那麼我就一定從你手裏撕裂你的國、而賜給你的臣僕。

故耶和華諭之曰、爾既行是、不守我約、及我命爾之典章、我必奪爾國祚、以予爾僕、

故復諭之曰、因爾行是、不守我約、及我所諭之禮儀、我必奪爾國祚、以予爾僕。

故主諭所羅門曰、爾既行是、不守我所命爾之約、及我之律例、我必奪爾國以賜爾僕、

So the Lord said to Solomon,“ Since this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates.

So the Lord said to Solomon,“ You have chosen not to keep my covenant. You have decided not to obey my rules. I commanded you to do what I told you. But you did not do it. So you can be absolutely sure I will tear the kingdom away from you. I will give it to one of your officials.

Therefore the Lord said to Solomon,“ Since this has been your practice and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes that I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you and will give it to your servant.

So now the Lord said to him,“ Since you have not kept my covenant and have disobeyed my decrees, I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your servants.

Then the LORD said to Solomon,“ Since you have done this and did not keep my covenant and my statutes, which I commanded you, I will tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant.

So the Lord said to Solomon,“ Since you have done this, and you have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will certainly tear the kingdom away from you, and will give it to your servant.

Therefore the Lord said to Solomon,“ Because you have done this, and have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant.

Wherefore Jehovah said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.

Then the Lord said to Solomon,“ Since you have done this and did not keep My covenant and My statutes, which I commanded you, I will tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant.

Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.

So the LORD said to Solomon,“ Because you insist on doing these things and have not kept the covenantal rules I gave you, I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant.

Therefore Yahweh said to Solomon,“ Because this is done by you, and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant.

王不聽民眾的請求。這事是出於耶和華的旨意，為要應驗祂藉示羅人亞希雅先知對尼八的兒子耶羅波安說的話。以色列人見王不聽他們的請求，就說：「我們與大衛有何相干？我們與耶西的兒子沒有關係！以色列人啊，各自回家吧！大衛家啊，自己照顧自己吧！」於是，以色列人各自回家了。

對耶羅波安說：「你可以拿十片。以色列的上帝耶和華說，『我必奪走所羅門的國，把十個支派賜給你。

以色列人聽說耶羅波安回來了，就請他到會眾面前，擁立他做以色列人的王。只有猶大支派仍然效忠大衛家。

「所以，以色列的上帝耶和華宣告說，『我曾經應許讓你們家族永遠做我的祭司。』但現在耶和華宣佈，『這絕不可能了。尊重我的，我必尊重他；藐視我的，必遭藐視。看啊，時候將到，我要終結你和你家族的力量，你們家族必沒有一個老人。你必以羡慕的眼光看著我賜福以色列人，你家中卻永遠沒有一個老人。

我耶和華已經說過。我必使你們這群與我為敵的惡人死在曠野，無一倖免。」

主說：「這些人嘴上親近我，尊崇我，心卻遠離我。他們敬拜我不過是遵行人定的規條。所以，我要再次行奇妙無比的事，使他們震驚。他們智者的智慧必泯滅，明哲的聰明必消失。」

祂使以色列從大衛家分裂出來，以色列人便擁立尼八的兒子耶羅波安為王。耶羅波安誘使以色列人遠離耶和華，使他們犯了大罪。

但撒母耳說：「我不會跟你回去，你既然拒絕遵行耶和華的命令，祂也拒絕你做以色列的王。」撒母耳轉身離去，掃羅就抓住他的衣邊，結果衣邊被撕下來了。撒母耳對他說：「耶和華今天已經從你身上拿走了以色列國的王位，賜給了一個比你好的人。

撒母耳說：「你真糊塗！你違背了你的上帝耶和華的命令。祂本來要使你的王位在以色列永遠堅立，但現在你的王位不能長久了，耶和華已經找到一個合祂心意的人，要立他做百姓的君王。因為你沒有遵守耶和華的命令。」

你為什麼蔑視我的命令，做出我視為可憎的事呢？你藉亞捫人的刀殺了赫人烏利亞，把他的妻子據為己有。因為你藐視我，把赫人烏利亞的妻子據為己有，從今以後，殺戮流血的事必永不離開你的家。』耶和華說，『我要在你家中降下災禍，我要當著你的面把你的妻妾交給你的近臣，他必在光天化日之下與她們行淫。你在暗地裡做這惡事，我要讓這樣的惡事當著以色列人的面在光天化日之下臨到你。』」
