Although he had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the Lord’s command.

He had commanded Solomon not to worship other gods. But Solomon didn’t obey the Lord.

至於你呢、你如果行於我面前，像你父親大衛那樣行：照我一切所吩咐你的去作，謹守我的律例典章，那麼我就立定你的國位，正如我和你父親大衛立了約說：「你子孫總必不斷有人來統治以色列的」。『但是你們、你們若轉離而撇棄我的律例誡命、就是我所擺在你們面前的，反而去服事敬拜別的神，那麼我就必將以色列人從我所賜給他們的土地上根拔出來，而我為我自己的名所分別為聖的這殿、我也必從我面前丟棄不顧，使它在萬族民中成為令人談笑令人譏刺的對象。對這座這麼高聳的殿、凡從這裏經過的人、個個都必驚訝着說：「永恆主為甚麼向這地和這殿這樣辦呢？」人必回答說：「是因為這地的人離棄了永恆主他們列祖的上帝、那領他們出埃及地的上帝，去依附着別的神、而敬拜服事他們；故此永恆主才使這一切災禍臨到了他們。」』

『關於你所建的這殿，你若遵行我的律例，實行我的典章，遵守我的一切誡命、按着誡命而行，我就必實行我的話在你身上，那話就是我對你父親大衛所應許過的。我必在以色列人中間居住，我必不丟棄我的人民以色列。』

至於你呢，你如果以純全的心正正直直地行於我面前，像你父親大衛那樣行：照我一切所吩咐你的去作，謹守我的律例典章，那麼我就立定你國的王位、來管理以色列到永遠；正如我在關於你父親大衛的事上曾應許說：「你的子孫必總不斷有人在以色列的王位上。」但是你們或你們的子孫若轉離了我，不守我的誡命、律例、就是我所擺在你們面前的，反而去服事敬拜別的神，那麼我就必將以色列人從我所賜給他們的土地上剪滅掉，而我為自己的名所分別為聖的這殿、我也必從我面前丟出，使以色列人在萬族之民中、成為令人談笑令人譏刺的對象。
