耶西就派人去把他帶來；他面色紅潤，雙目清秀，樣貌英俊。耶和華說：「起來膏抹他，就是這個人！」於是撒母耳拿起裝膏油的犄角，在他兄弟們當中膏抹了他。從那天以後，耶和華的靈就大大臨到大衛。撒母耳起身回拉瑪去了。

當用豎琴歌頌耶和華，當用豎琴和頌歌的聲音，用號筒和號角的聲音，在大君王耶和華面前歡呼！願海洋和其中所充滿的、世界和其中的居民，都歡呼如雷！

他的後裔將長存，直到永遠；他的寶座在我面前如同太陽，

你愛公義，恨邪惡；因此神，就是你的神，用喜樂的油膏抹你，勝過膏抹你的同伴。

耶和華緊拉著居魯士的右手，讓列國降服在他面前，使君王們的腰帶鬆開；又讓門在他面前敞開，使城門也不關閉——耶和華對所膏立的居魯士如此說：

就是神怎樣以聖靈和能力膏立拿撒勒人耶穌，他走遍各地行善，使所有受魔鬼壓制的人痊癒，因為神與他同在。

原來將我們與你們在基督裡一起確立，並且膏立了我們大家的那一位，就是神。他又在我們身上蓋了印，並且賜聖靈在我們心裡做為預付憑據。

我找到我的僕人大衛，用我聖潔的膏油膏抹了他。

猶大人前來，在那裡膏立大衛作猶大家的王。有人告訴大衛說：「是基列-雅比人埋葬了掃羅。」
