False prophets belong to the world. So they speak from the world’s point of view. And the world listens to them.

They say to the seers,‘ Don’t see any more visions!’ They say to the prophets,‘ Don’t give us any more visions of what is right! Tell us pleasant things. Prophesy things we want to hear even if they aren’t true.Get out of our way! Get off our path! Keep the Holy One of Israel away from us!’ ”

They do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to it.

Though evil people tried to pay me to do wrong, I have not done what they wanted. Instead I have done what you commanded.

The Lord who rules over all is the God of Israel. He says,“ Do not let the prophets trick you. Do not be fooled by those who claim to have secret knowledge. Do not listen to people who try to explain their dreams to you.

So Jesus told them,“ The time for me to show who I really am is not here yet. For you, any time would be the right time.The people of the world can’t hate you. But they hate me. This is because I am a witness that their works are evil.
