The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.

敬虔的奥秘真伟大啊，这是众人所公认的，就是：“他在肉身显现，在圣灵里称义（“在圣灵里称义”或译：“被圣灵称义”），被天使看见；被传于列国，被世人信服，被接到荣耀里。”

犯罪的是出于魔鬼，因为魔鬼从起初就犯罪。因此，神的儿子显现了，是要除灭魔鬼的作为。

你们也要作见证，因为从开始你们就是跟我在一起的。”

这都是根据永生的盼望，这永生就是没有谎言的神在万世以前所应许的。

在耶和华创造的开始，在太初创造一切以先，就有了我。在亘古、在太初，在未有大地之前，我已经被立；没有深渊，没有大水的泉源以先，我已经出生。大山未曾奠定，小山未有以先，我已经出生。那时，耶和华还没有造大地和田野，也没有造地上的泥土。他立定诸天的时候，我在那里；他在渊面上界划地平线的时候，我在那里；他上使穹苍坚固，下使深渊的水泉稳定；他为海洋定出界限，海水不能越过他的命令，他又划定大地的根基；那时，我在他身边作工匠，每天都充满喜乐，时常在他面前欢笑，

耶稣对他说：“我就是道路、真理、生命，如果不是藉着我，没有人能到父那里去。

太初有道，道与神同在，道就是神。这道太初与神同在。

你们杀了那‘生命的创始者’，神却使他从死人中复活。我们就是这件事的见证人。

但现在藉着我们救主基督耶稣的显现，才表明出来。他废掉了死亡，藉着福音把生命和不朽彰显出来。

我从父那里来，到了这世界；我又离开这世界，到父那里去。”

我这同作长老，也是为基督受苦作见证，又是同享将来所要显现的荣耀的，劝你们当中作长老的：

父啊，现在让我在你自己面前得着荣耀，就是在创世以前我与你同享的荣耀。

这是耶稣从死人中复活之后，第三次向门徒显现。

除了那从天上降下来的人子（有些抄本作“除了那从天上降下来仍旧在天上的人子”），没有人升过天。

这位耶稣，神已经使他复活了，我们都是这事的见证人。

不是显现给所有的人看，而是给神预先拣选的见证人看，就是我们这些在他从死人中复活之后，与他一同吃喝的人。

我所说的，是我在父那里看见的；但你们所作的，却是从你们的父那里听见的。”
