For it is written in the Law of Moses:“ Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.” Is it about oxen that God is concerned?

Here is what is written in the Law of Moses.“ Do not stop an ox from eating while it helps separate the grain from the straw.”( Deuteronomy 25:4) Is it oxen that God is concerned about?

經云、踏穀之牛、勿籠其口、又云、工得其值、宜也、

斯皆望爾、依時食之、

眾目惟爾是望、隨時爾給以食兮、爾展厥手、以饜羣生之欲兮、

試思烏鴉、不稼不穡、無倉無廩、而上帝且育之、爾之於鳥、其貴何如耶、爾曹誰能以思慮延生一刻乎、至微者爾尚不能、何慮其餘耶、試思百合花如何而長、不勞不紡、我語汝、當所羅門榮華之極、所衣者不及此花之一也、夫野草今日尚存、明日投爐、上帝猶衣之若此、況爾小信者乎、

惟七日、乃爾上帝耶和華之安息、是日爾與子女、僕婢牛驢、暨諸牲畜、及寓爾家之遠人、皆毋操作、使爾僕婢休憩、與爾無異、

彼以雲蔽天、為地備雨、使草滋長於山兮、賜食於獸、及啼噪之鴉雛兮、

試觀飛鳥、不稼不穡、不積於廩、爾天父且育之、爾豈不尤貴於鳥乎、爾曹誰能以思慮延生一刻乎、曷為衣慮耶、試思野之百合花、如何而長、不勞不紡、我語汝、當所羅門榮華之極、所衣不及此花之一也、夫野草今日尚存、明日投爐、上帝猶衣之若此、況於爾小信者乎、

爾見昆弟之牛羊、迷於歧路、勿佯為不見、必反之於昆弟、如昆弟離爾遠、或不相識、則牽之歸、留於爾家、待其求之、然後反之、其驢其衣、凡昆弟所失之物、為爾所得、俱必如是反之、勿佯為不見、爾見昆弟之牛驢、躓於途間、勿佯為不見、必助其主起之、○

耶和華使驢啟口、謂巴蘭曰、我於爾何為、致爾策我者三、巴蘭曰、汝戲我、願有刃在我手、我必殺汝、驢曰、我非爾驢、爾畢生所乘者乎、我素有是行否、曰、無之、耶和華明巴蘭目、乃見使者拔刃立於途、遂俯首伏地、使者曰、三策爾驢何也、爾所行者逆我、故我出以禦爾、驢見我而避者三、不然、我已殺爾、使驢得生、巴蘭曰、獲罪矣、不識爾立途中以禦我、爾若不悅我往、我將返、曰、姑與其人偕往、惟我所諭、爾必言之、於是巴蘭與巴勒使臣偕往、
