顧我本人迄未利用此制；吾之書此、亦非欲為己有所主張。何則、我寧死、不願人毀我之榮也。

But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing this in the hope that you will do such things for me, for I would rather die than allow anyone to deprive me of this boast.

For my part I have used none of these rights, nor have I written these things that they may be applied in my case. For it would be better for me to die than for anyone to deprive me of my boast!

我在你们那里有缺乏的时候，并没有连累你们一个人，因为我所缺乏的，那些从马其顿来的弟兄都补足了。我向来凡事谨慎，将来也必谨慎，总不要连累你们。既有基督的真诚在我里面，在亚该亚一带地方就没有人能阻止我这样自夸。为什么呢？是因我不爱你们吗？神知道，我爱你们！我现在所做的，将来还要做，为要断绝那些寻机会之人的机会，不让他们在所夸耀的事上被人认为与我们一样。

假如别人在你们身上享有这权利，何况我们呢？然而，我们并没有用过这权利，倒是凡事忍受，免得基督的福音受到阻碍。

也从未白吃人的饭，倒是辛苦劳碌，昼夜做工，免得使你们中间有人受累。

他们本是制造帐棚为业。保罗因与他们同业，就和他们同住，一同做工。

弟兄们，你们记念我们的辛苦劳碌，昼夜做工，传神的福音给你们，免得你们任何人受累。

你们自己知道，我靠两只手工作来供给我和同工的需用。

并且劳碌，亲手做工；被人咒骂，我们就祝福；被人迫害，我们就忍受；

“凡使这些信我的小子中的一个跌倒的，倒不如把大磨石拴在这人的颈项上，沉在深海里。

除了我不曾连累你们这一件事，你们还有什么事不及别的教会呢？这不公平之处，请你们饶恕我吧。如今，我准备第三次到你们那里去。我仍不会连累你们，因为我所求的是你们，不是你们的财物。儿女不该为父母积财，父母该为儿女积财。我也甘心乐意为你们的灵魂费财费力。难道我越爱你们，就越少得你们的爱吗？罢了，我自己并没有连累你们，你们却有人说，我施诡诈，用心计牢笼你们。我所差遣到你们那里去的人，我何曾藉着他们中的任何人占过你们的便宜呢？我劝提多到你们那里去，又差遣那位弟兄与他同去，提多占过你们的便宜吗？我们的行事为人不是同一心灵吗？不是同一步伐吗？

扫罗却残害教会，挨家挨户地进去，拉着男女关在监里。

我却不以性命为念，只要走完我的路程，完成我从主耶稣所领受的职分，为神恩典的福音作见证。

这就是我所切慕、所盼望的：没有一事能使我羞愧；反倒凡事坦然无惧，无论是生是死，总要让基督在我身上照常显大。因为我活着就是基督，死了就有益处。但是，我在肉身活着，若能有工作的成果，我就不知道该挑选什么。我处在两难之间：我情愿离世与基督同在，因为这是好得无比的；
