關於未婚女子，我沒有主的命令，但我既蒙主憐憫、作為一個可信靠的人，把自己的意見告訴你們。因現今的艱難，據我看來，人不如安於現狀。

並且要以我們主的容忍作為你們得救的機會，就如我們所親愛的弟兄保羅，照着所賜給他的智慧寫信給你們。他一切的信上都談到這事。信中有些難明白的，那無學問、不堅定的人加以曲解，如曲解別的經書一樣，自取滅亡。

我不是自由的嗎？我不是使徒嗎？我不是見過我們的主耶穌嗎？你們不是我在主裏面工作的成果嗎？假若對別人來說，我不是使徒，對你們來說，我總是使徒；因為你們在主裏正是我作使徒的印證。對那些質問我的人，這就是我的答辯。

關於你們信上所提的事，男人不親近女人倒好。

所以，那棄絕這教導的不是棄絕人，而是棄絕那把自己的聖靈賜給你們的上帝。

我說這話是為你們的益處，不是要限制你們，而是要你們做合宜的事，得以不分心地對主忠誠。
