第有一語、不得不為兄弟告者、即人生在世、為日無多；故有妻當若無妻、

兄弟乎、我姑言之、時日促矣、今而後有妻者當如無妻、

兄弟乎、吾言今而後、窘逼之時也、故有妻者、當如無妻、

兄弟乎、所餘之時無幾、故有妻者當如無妻、

What I mean, brothers and sisters, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they do not;

Brothers and sisters, what I mean is that the time is short. From now on, those who have a husband or wife should live as if they did not.

This is what I mean, brothers: the appointed time has grown very short. From now on, let those who have wives live as though they had none,

But let me say this, dear brothers and sisters: The time that remains is very short. So from now on, those with wives should not focus only on their marriage.

且吾人亦不可昧於時義、須知今茲已為醒於睡夢之時。何則、吾人蒙救之日、已較初信之時、日近一日矣。夜如何其、夜將闌！而曙將至矣！吾人尚可不去曖昧之行、被光明之甲、

爾又曰：『今日或明日、我儕將往某城、作一年之勾留、將營商而獲利焉。』然而明日之事、固非爾所能逆知也。盍一思之、爾之生命、果為何物？人生在世、實如雲煙過眼、瞬息即杳。爾如曰：『主若願者我儕當可仍在人間、而致力於其事；』則言之得體矣。顧爾傲慢成性、至今猶誇誕如初；凡此誇誕、皆屬非善。

因此亦宜出而就之於營外、而與之共受垢辱。蓋吾人在世、本無永久之城邑；吾人之所追求者乃一未來之城府也。

用世當若遺世；蓋斯世之形形色色、皆如雲煙過眼、瞬即杳矣。

而人世及其所貪圖者、皆暫而不久、俯仰之間、已為陳跡。惟有遵行天主聖意之人、可大可久、永古長存。

憂鬱塞心曲。孤憤炙中腸。安能長默默。開口問上蒼。大限何日屆。壽數幾多長。人無百年好。花無百日香。浮生總是夢。彈指已云亡。又如彼泡影。何苦自遑遑。金玉縱滿堂。後來知誰有。

又如中宵夢。夢醒更已易。光陰似急湍。漂人到大海。人生如朝菌。晨榮暮凋謝。況復值聖怒。孰能無怵惕。吾罪參在上。隱惡何從匿。度日霆威下。終身一歎息。人生七十年。康強至八十。中間惟愁苦。俯仰成陳迹。

經云：『人生如野草、榮華草上花草枯花亦謝：

萬物之終局、已日近一日、爾其朝乾夕惕、儆醒祈禱。

惟以主視之、一日猶如千秋、千秋猶如一日。凡我良朋、不可不明此理。主之踐諾、人以為遲、實則不遲。主之寬忍、正為吾人之故、欲使血氣之倫、皆能悔過自新、而無一人遭受淪喪也。

人生如草。當春發榮。朔風一至。杳焉無存。蹤跡蕩然。一如未生。
