Were you a slave when you were called? Don’t let it trouble you— although if you can gain your freedom, do so.

Were you a slave when God chose you? Don’t let it trouble you. But if you can get your master to set you free, do it.

Were you a bondservant when called? Do not be concerned about it.( But if you can gain your freedom, avail yourself of the opportunity.)

Were you called while a slave? Don’t let it concern you. But if you can become free, by all means take the opportunity.

Were you called as a slave? Do not let it concern you. But if you are also able to become free, take advantage of that.

Wast thou called being a bondservant? care not for it: nay, even if thou canst become free, use it rather.

In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.

Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.

You who are slaves must submit to your masters with all respect. Do what they tell you— not only if they are kind and reasonable, but even if they are cruel.For God is pleased when, conscious of his will, you patiently endure unjust treatment.Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. But if you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you.For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone.He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.

“ And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things.

But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said,“ Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.”But the Lord said to her,“ My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details!

There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,“ I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”

All slaves should show full respect for their masters so they will not bring shame on the name of God and his teaching.If the masters are believers, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. Those slaves should work all the harder because their efforts are helping other believers who are well loved. Teach these things, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them.Some people may contradict our teaching, but these are the wholesome teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. These teachings promote a godly life.

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.
