死之為害何在、陰府之克我何在、

『嗚呼死亡！爾之勝利安在？爾之毒螫又安在哉？』

O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?

“ Death, where is your sting? Hades, where is your victory?”

Shall I ransom them from the power of Sheol? Shall I redeem them from death? Death, where are your thorns? Sheol, where is your sting? Compassion will be hidden from My sight.

What man can live and not see death? Can he save his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah

Then I said to myself,“ As is the fate of the fool, it will also happen to me. Why then have I been extremely wise?” So I said to myself,“ This too is futility.”For there is no lasting remembrance of the wise, along with the fool, since in the coming days everything will soon be forgotten. And how the wise and the fool alike die!

Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the violation committed by Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.

And he said,“ Who are You, Lord?” And He said,“ I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,

And in Hades he raised his eyes, being in torment, and* saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his arms.

For the redemption of his soul is priceless, And he should cease imagining forever—That he might live on eternally, That he might not undergo decay.For he sees that even wise people die; The foolish and the stupid alike perish And leave their wealth to others.Their inner thought is that their houses are forever And their dwelling places to all generations; They have named their lands after their own names.But man in his splendor will not endure; He is like the animals that perish.This is the way of those who are foolish, And of those after them who approve their words. SelahLike sheep they sink down to Sheol; Death will be their shepherd; And the upright will rule over them in the morning, And their form shall be for Sheol to consume So that they have no lofty home.But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, For He will receive me. Selah

For You will not abandon my soul to Hades, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.

No one has authority over the wind to restrain the wind, nor authority over the day of death; and there is no military discharge in the time of war, and evil will not save those who practice it.

And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them; and they were judged, each one of them according to their deeds.Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

For the fate of the sons of mankind and the fate of animals is the same. As one dies, so dies the other; indeed, they all have the same breath, and there is no advantage for mankind over animals, for all is futility.

For the living know that they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor do they have a reward any longer, for their memory is forgotten.Indeed their love, their hate, and their zeal have already perished, and they will no longer have a share in all that is done under the sun.

It devours parts of his skin, The firstborn of death devours his limbs.He is torn from the security of his tent, And they march him before the king of terrors.

They have tails like scorpions, and stings; and in their tails is their power to hurt people for five months.
