For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us out of this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father—

Who has believed our message? To whom has Yahweh’s arm been revealed?For he grew up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no good looks or majesty. When we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him.Surely he has borne our sickness and carried our suffering; yet we considered him plagued, struck by God, and afflicted.But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed.All we like sheep have gone astray. Everyone has turned to his own way; and Yahweh has laid on him the iniquity of us all.He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he didn’t open his mouth. As a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he didn’t open his mouth.He was taken away by oppression and judgment. As for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living and stricken for the disobedience of my people?They made his grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.Yet it pleased Yahweh to bruise him. He has caused him to suffer. When you make his soul an offering for sin, he will see his offspring. He will prolong his days and Yahweh’s pleasure will prosper in his hand.After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light and be satisfied. My righteous servant will justify many by the knowledge of himself; and he will bear their iniquities.Therefore I will give him a portion with the great. He will divide the plunder with the strong; because he poured out his soul to death and was counted with the transgressors; yet he bore the sins of many and made intercession for the transgressors.

For I didn’t receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came to me through revelation of Jesus Christ.

And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.

Having therefore obtained the help that is from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would happen,how the Christ must suffer, and how, by the resurrection of the dead, he would be first to proclaim light both to these people and to the Gentiles.”

He said to them,“ Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said,“ Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

For I received from the Lord that which also I delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night in which he was betrayed took bread.

For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

“ Awake, sword, against my shepherd, and against the man who is close to me,” says Yahweh of Armies.“ Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; and I will turn my hand against the little ones.

in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins.

“ Seventy weeks are decreed on your people and on your holy city, to finish disobedience, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy.“ Know therefore and discern that from the going out of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem to the Anointed One, the prince, will be seven weeks and sixty- two weeks. It will be built again, with street and moat, even in troubled times.After the sixty- two weeks the Anointed One will be cut off, and will have nothing. The people of the prince who come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end will be with a flood, and war will be even to the end. Desolations are determined.

and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us, and washed us from our sins by his blood—

Every priest indeed stands day by day serving and often offering the same sacrifices which can never take away sins,but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God,

Didn’t the Christ have to suffer these things and to enter into his glory?”Beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written,“ Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,”

searching for who or what kind of time the Spirit of Christ, which was in them, pointed to, when he predicted the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that would follow them.

But the things which God announced by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he thus fulfilled.

Because of this, he must offer sacrifices for sins for the people, as well as for himself.

Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet- smelling fragrance.

Save me, God, for the waters have come up to my neck!I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold. I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.I am weary with my crying. My throat is dry. My eyes fail looking for my God.Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head. Those who want to cut me off, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty. I have to restore what I didn’t take away.God, you know my foolishness. My sins aren’t hidden from you.Don’t let those who wait for you be shamed through me, Lord Yahweh of Armies. Don’t let those who seek you be brought to dishonor through me, God of Israel.Because for your sake, I have borne reproach. Shame has covered my face.I have become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother’s children.For the zeal of your house consumes me. The reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me.When I wept and I fasted, that was to my reproach.When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword to them.Those who sit in the gate talk about me. I am the song of the drunkards.But as for me, my prayer is to you, Yahweh, in an acceptable time. God, in the abundance of your loving kindness, answer me in the truth of your salvation.Deliver me out of the mire, and don’t let me sink. Let me be delivered from those who hate me, and out of the deep waters.Don’t let the flood waters overwhelm me, neither let the deep swallow me up. Don’t let the pit shut its mouth on me.Answer me, Yahweh, for your loving kindness is good. According to the multitude of your tender mercies, turn to me.Don’t hide your face from your servant, for I am in distress. Answer me speedily!Draw near to my soul and redeem it. Ransom me because of my enemies.You know my reproach, my shame, and my dishonor. My adversaries are all before you.Reproach has broken my heart, and I am full of heaviness. I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; for comforters, but I found none.They also gave me poison for my food. In my thirst, they gave me vinegar to drink.Let their table before them become a snare. May it become a retribution and a trap.Let their eyes be darkened, so that they can’t see. Let their backs be continually bent.Pour out your indignation on them. Let the fierceness of your anger overtake them.Let their habitation be desolate. Let no one dwell in their tents.For they persecute him whom you have wounded. They tell of the sorrow of those whom you have hurt.Charge them with crime upon crime. Don’t let them come into your righteousness.Let them be blotted out of the book of life, and not be written with the righteous.But I am in pain and distress. Let your salvation, God, protect me.I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.It will please Yahweh better than an ox, or a bull that has horns and hoofs.The humble have seen it, and are glad. You who seek after God, let your heart live.For Yahweh hears the needy, and doesn’t despise his captive people.Let heaven and earth praise him; the seas, and everything that moves therein!For God will save Zion, and build the cities of Judah. They shall settle there, and own it.The children also of his servants shall inherit it. Those who love his name shall dwell therein.

“ Son of man, I have made you a watchman to the house of Israel. Therefore hear the word from my mouth, and warn them from me.

For every high priest, being taken from among men, is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.

So let a man think of us as Christ’s servants, and stewards of God’s mysteries.Here, moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.

whom God sent to be an atoning sacrifice, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness through the passing over of prior sins, in God’s forbearance;

He said to them,“ Go into all the world, and preach the Good News to the whole creation.He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who disbelieves will be condemned.

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning?My God, I cry in the daytime, but you don’t answer; in the night season, and am not silent.But you are holy, you who inhabit the praises of Israel.Our fathers trusted in you. They trusted, and you delivered them.They cried to you, and were delivered. They trusted in you, and were not disappointed.But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people.All those who see me mock me. They insult me with their lips. They shake their heads, saying,“ He trusts in Yahweh. Let him deliver him. Let him rescue him, since he delights in him.”But you brought me out of the womb. You made me trust while at my mother’s breasts.I was thrown on you from my mother’s womb. You are my God since my mother bore me.Don’t be far from me, for trouble is near. For there is no one to help.Many bulls have surrounded me. Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me.They open their mouths wide against me, lions tearing prey and roaring.I am poured out like water. All my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax. It is melted within me.My strength is dried up like a potsherd. My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You have brought me into the dust of death.For dogs have surrounded me. A company of evildoers have enclosed me. They have pierced my hands and feet.I can count all of my bones. They look and stare at me.They divide my garments among them. They cast lots for my clothing.But don’t be far off, Yahweh. You are my help. Hurry to help me!Deliver my soul from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dog.Save me from the lion’s mouth! Yes, you have rescued me from the horns of the wild oxen.I will declare your name to my brothers. Among the assembly, I will praise you.You who fear Yahweh, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify him! Stand in awe of him, all you descendants of Israel!For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, Neither has he hidden his face from him; but when he cried to him, he heard.My praise of you comes in the great assembly. I will pay my vows before those who fear him.The humble shall eat and be satisfied. They shall praise Yahweh who seek after him. Let your hearts live forever.All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to Yahweh. All the relatives of the nations shall worship before you.For the kingdom is Yahweh’s. He is the ruler over the nations.All the rich ones of the earth shall eat and worship. All those who go down to the dust shall bow before him, even he who can’t keep his soul alive.Posterity shall serve him. Future generations shall be told about the Lord.They shall come and shall declare his righteousness to a people that shall be born, for he has done it.

“ Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death,and will hand him over to the Gentiles to mock, to scourge, and to crucify; and the third day he will be raised up.”

Now I praise you, brothers, that you remember me in all things, and hold firm the traditions, even as I delivered them to you.

Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit,

I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel.”
