The Lord said to my Lord,“ Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.”

But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.There he waits until his enemies are humbled and made a footstool under his feet.

For the Lord declares,“ I have placed my chosen king on the throne in Jerusalem, on my holy mountain.”The king proclaims the Lord’s decree:“ The Lord said to me,‘ You are my son. Today I have become your Father.Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth as your possession.You will break them with an iron rod and smash them like clay pots.’”Now then, you kings, act wisely! Be warned, you rulers of the earth!

And God never said to any of the angels,“ Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.”

For David himself, speaking under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, said,‘ The Lord said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies beneath your feet.’

For David himself wrote in the book of Psalms:‘ The Lord said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor at my right handuntil I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.’

For David himself never ascended into heaven, yet he said,‘ The Lord said to my Lord,“ Sit in the place of honor at my right hand

Put on your sword, O mighty warrior! You are so glorious, so majestic!In your majesty, ride out to victory, defending truth, humility, and justice. Go forth to perform awe inspiring deeds!Your arrows are sharp, piercing your enemies’ hearts. The nations fall beneath your feet.Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice.

God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church.
