But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.

But the person who prophesies speaks to people. That person prophesies to make people stronger, to give them hope, and to comfort them.

On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.

But one who prophesies strengthens others, encourages them, and comforts them.

On the other hand, the person who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouragement, and consolation.

But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.

I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know our circumstances and that he may encourage your hearts.

Until I come, give attention to the public reading of scripture, to exhortation, to teaching.

Preach the message, be ready whether it is convenient or not, reprove, rebuke, exhort with complete patience and instruction.

It is the same with you. Since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, seek to abound in order to strengthen the church.

He must hold firmly to the faithful message as it has been taught, so that he will be able to give exhortation in such healthy teaching and correct those who speak against it.

But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith, by praying in the Holy Spirit,

Slaves are to be subject to their own masters in everything, to do what is wanted and not talk back,

Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, just as you are in fact doing.Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who labor among you and preside over you in the Lord and admonish you,and to esteem them most highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.And we urge you, brothers and sisters, admonish the undisciplined, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient toward all.

So then, let us pursue what makes for peace and for building up one another.

After the reading from the law and the prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent them a message, saying,“ Brothers, if you have any message of exhortation for the people, speak it.”

What should you do then, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each one has a song, has a lesson, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all these things be done for the strengthening of the church.

Encourage younger men likewise to be self- controlled,

The one who speaks in a tongue builds himself up, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.I wish you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets so that the church may be strengthened.

“ Everything is lawful,” but not everything is beneficial.“ Everything is lawful,” but not everything builds others up.

So communicate these things with the sort of exhortation or rebuke that carries full authority. Don’t let anyone look down on you.

For you can all prophesy one after another, so all can learn and be encouraged.

For the appeal we make does not come from error or impurity or with deceit,

to equip the saints for the work of ministry, that is, to build up the body of Christ,until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God– a mature person, attaining to the measure of Christ’s full stature.So we are no longer to be children, tossed back and forth by waves and carried about by every wind of teaching by the trickery of people who craftily carry out their deceitful schemes.But practicing the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Christ, who is the head.From him the whole body grows, fitted and held together through every supporting ligament. As each one does its part, the body grows in love.

nor to occupy themselves with myths and interminable genealogies. Such things promote useless speculations rather than God’s redemptive plan that operates by faith.

We sent Timothy, our brother and fellow worker for God in the gospel of Christ, to strengthen you and encourage you about your faith,

As you know, we treated each one of you as a father treats his own children,

I sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are doing and that he may encourage your hearts.

Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, bear with my message of exhortation, for in fact I have written to you briefly.

But those who have believing masters must not show them less respect because they are brothers. Instead they are to serve all the more, because those who benefit from their service are believers and dearly loved. Teach them and exhort them about these things.

Through Silvanus, whom I know to be a faithful brother, I have written to you briefly, in order to encourage you and testify that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it.

not abandoning our own meetings, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and even more so because you see the day drawing near.

You must let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but only what is beneficial for the building up of the one in need, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Both Judas and Silas, who were prophets themselves, encouraged and strengthened the brothers with a long speech.

For you are certainly giving thanks well, but the other person is not strengthened.

Now such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly and so provide their own food to eat.

Let each of us please his neighbor for his good to build him up.

And in this way, with many other exhortations, John proclaimed good news to the people.

Finally then, brothers and sisters, we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received instruction from us about how you must live and please God( as you are in fact living) that you do so more and more.

With regard to food sacrificed to idols, we know that“ we all have knowledge.” Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.
