更或賦以異能、或以預言、或辨諸神、或言方言、或譯方言、

有人得行異能、有人得言未來事、有人得別感神真偽、有人得言諸國方言、有人得譯諸國方言、

有人得行異能、有人得言未來之事、有人得辨神之真偽、有人得言方言、方言或作神言除十四章十節方言之外下同有人得解方言、

to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.

To others he gives the power to do miracles. To others he gives the ability to prophesy. To others he gives the ability to tell the spirits apart. To others he gives the ability to speak in different kinds of languages they had not known before. And to still others he gives the ability to explain what was said in those languages.

He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said.

信者恆有神跡隨之、藉我名以祛鬼魔、以操新語、

總之、望兄弟志於預言同時亦勿禁方言；

望我愛友、勿泛信一切靈感、應細心察驗其靈感之是否淵源天主。蓋偽先知已蠭起於世矣。

夫天主既賜爾以聖神、又於爾中廣施靈蹟、彼之為此、憑律法乎？抑憑信德乎？

天主在教會內所建立者、一為宗徒、二為先知、三為教師、次則聖蹟、異能、醫道賑濟、管理、及各種方言；豈能皆為宗徒、皆為先知、皆為教師、皆施聖蹟、皆行醫道、皆操方言、皆作繙譯者哉？

然則兄弟究應如何？爾等聚會時、各有貢獻、或以聖詠、或以教理、或以啟示、或以方言、或以繙譯；總之、亦在己立立人、己達達人而已矣。如有作方言者、以二人為限、多則三人、按次發言、且須有舌人為之繙譯。若無舌人、則在會中應守緘默、逕向自己及天主陳述可也。作預言者、亦以二三人為限、其餘皆應靜聽、以辯其真偽。

識之哉！予將以吾父所許者、遣發於爾矣。惟爾曹宜暫留京中、靜候自天賦與之德能。』

爾等當追求愛德、亦當志於靈賦；而靈賦之中、預言尚矣。何則、操方言者、非與眾人語、乃與天主語也。心中雖言妙諦而他人則莫名其妙也。惟作先知之言、則所以覺眾；立人達人、勸人慰人、於是乎賴。作方言者立己、而作預言者立眾。吾固願爾等皆能操方言、顧吾尤望爾等能作預言。蓋操方言者、苟非自譯以裨會眾、則不若預言之為愈也。

倘若全會同人、於聚集時、相約共操方言；其時適有無術或不信之人、亦來到會、不將謂爾等作夢囈耶？若同人共作預言、即來一不信或無術之人、亦將為爾眾所感化為爾眾所詰究、

如此則井井有序、各人皆得預言、使同人均獲教益、咸蒙鼓勵。蓋先知之識、雖屬聖神所賦、而言默則由己耳。

使我無愛德、而徒能操萬國之音、作天神之語、則猶鳴鑼擊鈸而已矣。使我無愛德、而具先知之靈賦、心通一切玄妙、一切知識、甚至有移山之信、則亦浮華無實耳。

於是諸徒起行、隨在宣道、賴主之佑、神跡隨之、用證其道之真實不妄。

「上主云、時臨末日、將以吾神賜諸蒼生；爾子爾女、將作預言、少者睹異徵、老者獲奇夢。屆時當以吾神沛賜吾之僕婢、使道未來。

惟於此首應注意者、乃經中預言、無一能憑私智而解釋也。蓋歷來豫言、本非出人私智、乃古人感於聖神、而為天主之舌人耳。

一俟真諦之神來臨、必能循循誘爾洞達微妙。彼所言亦非由己；有所聞、乃言之；當示爾以將臨之事、且必歸榮於予也。

毋輕慢預言、

且天主更按聖意、疊用異兆靈異、廣施聖蹟、及聖神之妙果、為之證明；不亦信而有徵乎？

爾之行實、爾之堅苦忍耐、悉在吾洞鑒之中；亦知爾不肯優容惡人、凡冒充宗徒者、爾竟能嚴加審察、而揭其偽妄；

以聞若輩操方言而讚揚天主也。於是伯鐸祿曰：『彼等既領聖神、與吾儕無異、孰能禁水而不為施洗耶？』

葆樂為之按手、聖神臨之、咸操方言、逆知未來；

有女四、童身、能作預言。留此之日、有先知亞迦布自猶太至、

伯鐸祿曰：『亞拿尼亞爾何沙殫蒙心、私藏所得、以欺聖神乎？

惟假吾之手而已。或以言語、或以行為、或以聖蹟、異能、何一非聖神之妙工乎？吾傳基督福音、足跡已遍耶路撒冷及其周圍之地、直達伊利利亞。

諸兄弟乎！容我直言不諱、先祖大維逝且葬矣、其墓至今猶在。大維先知也、自知曾蒙天主許誓、其後裔必有登其寶座者、

不然、則亦應憑予所行事蹟而信之。予切實語爾、凡置信於予者、必能行予之所行、且其所行將有大於斯者以予歸父故也。

彼此皆屬肢體、相需而成；而所受之恩寵才賦、亦各有不同也。

預言有時而息、方言有時而廢、智識有時而窮；而愛德則永久不匱也。

其一名亞迦布者、起立、感於聖神、預示舉世將有大饑。此事後果見驗於克老第朝。

然聖神降臨、將賜爾等以神力、而爾等將為予作證、始自耶路撒冷、繼及猶太沙瑪里、終至普天率土、無遠不屆。』

眾遂飽受聖神、各依聖神所賦、而道異國方言。爾時有虔誠之猶太人、來自天下萬國、寓於耶路撒冷？一聆此聲、紛紛咸集；聞門徒道其鄉音、乃駭然而異曰：『且視言者非皆加利利人乎？何能道吾方言？吾輩或來自帕提亞、瑪代、以蘭、或向居美索不達米亞、猶太、加帕多蒙、本都、亞細亞、弗呂家、旁非利、埃及、以及毗連古利奈之呂彼亞；或自羅馬來此遊歷；或為猶太人、或為歸化者；尚有革哩底阿拉伯諸方人士；而各聞以其鄉音、稱道天主宏猷！』莫不驚訝自失而相語曰：『果何由而致此乎？』
