飯後他照樣拿起杯來，說：「這杯是用我的血所立的新約，為你們流出來的。

為此，基督作了新約的中保；因為他的死，贖了人在第一個約之時所犯的罪過，使蒙召的人能得着所應許永遠的產業。凡有遺囑，必須證實立遺囑的人已經死了。因為人死了，遺囑才有效力；立遺囑的人尚在，遺囑就不能生效。所以，第一個約也是用血立的。因為摩西當日照着律法將各樣誡命傳給眾百姓，就拿朱紅色絨和牛膝草，把牛犢、山羊的血和水灑在書上，又灑在眾百姓身上，說：「這血就是上帝與你們立約的憑據。」

但願賜平安的上帝，就是那憑永約之血，把羣羊的大牧人－我們主耶穌從死人中領出來的上帝，

他使我們能配作新約的執事，不是文字上的約，而是聖靈的約；因為文字使人死，聖靈能使人活。

我們所祝謝的杯，豈不是同領基督的血嗎？我們所擘開的餅，豈不是同領基督的身體嗎？

但他們的心地剛硬，直到今日誦讀舊約的時候，這同樣的面紗還沒有揭去；因為這面紗在基督裏才被廢去。

所以，任何不按規矩吃了主的餅，喝了主的杯，就是干犯主的身體和主的血了。人應該省察自己，然後吃這餅，喝這杯。
