So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats.

We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.

What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.

Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves to you? It is in the sight of God that we have been speaking in Christ, and all for your upbuilding, beloved.

nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith.

So with yourselves, since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up the church.

Now concerning food offered to idols: we know that“ all of us possess knowledge.” This“ knowledge” puffs up, but love builds up.

On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up.
