如果你为了食物使你的弟兄忧愁，你就不再是凭着爱心行事了。你不可因着你的食物，使基督已经替他死了的人灭亡。

所以，我们总要追求和睦的事，与彼此造就的事。不可因食物的缘故拆毁神的工作。一切都是洁净的，但人若因食物绊倒弟兄，对他来说，这就是恶事了。

我们坚强的人，应该担当不坚强的人的软弱，不应该求自己的喜悦。我们各人务要叫邻舍喜悦，好让他得到益处、得到造就。

弟兄们，那么应该怎么办呢？你们聚集在一起的时候，各人或有诗歌，或有教训，或有启示，或有方言，或有翻译出来的话，一切都应该能造就人。

你们一直以为我们是在向你们申辩吗？我们是在基督里，当着神面前说话的。亲爱的，一切事都是为了建立你们。

也不可沉迷于无稽之谈和无穷的家谱；这些事只能引起争论，对于神在信仰上所定的计划是毫无帮助的。

你们也是这样，你们既然热切地渴慕属灵的恩赐，就应当追求多多得着造就教会的恩赐。

关于祭过偶像的食物，我们晓得我们都有知识。但知识会使人自高自大，唯有爱心能造就人。

但那讲道的是对人讲说，使他们得着造就、安慰和劝勉。那说方言的是造就自己，但那讲道的是造就教会。我愿意你们都说方言，但我更愿意你们都讲道；因为那说方言的，如果不翻译出来使教会得着造就，就远不如那讲道的了。
