For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers and sisters, that our ancestors were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea.

Brothers and sisters, I want you to know something about our people who lived long ago. They were all led by the cloud. They all walked through the Red Sea.

For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,

I don’t want you to forget, dear brothers and sisters, about our ancestors in the wilderness long ago. All of them were guided by a cloud that moved ahead of them, and all of them walked through the sea on dry ground.

But the Israelites walked on dry ground in the middle of the sea, the water forming a wall for them on their right and on their left.

You split the sea before them, and they crossed through the sea on dry ground! But you threw their pursuers into the depths, like a stone into surging waters.You guided them with a pillar of cloud by day and with a pillar of fire by night to illumine for them the path they were to travel.

He spread out a cloud for a cover, and provided a fire to light up the night.

He divided the sea and led them across it; he made the water stand in a heap.He led them with a cloud by day, and with the light of a fire all night long.

Our ancestors in Egypt failed to appreciate your miraculous deeds, they failed to remember your many acts of loyal love, and they rebelled at the sea, by the Red Sea.Yet he delivered them for the sake of his reputation, that he might reveal his power.He shouted at the Red Sea and it dried up; he led them through the deep water as if it were a desert.He delivered them from the power of the one who hated them, and rescued them from the power of the enemy.The water covered their enemies; not even one of them survived.

If someone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.

By faith they crossed the Red Sea as if on dry ground, but when the Egyptians tried it, they were swallowed up.

He turned the sea into dry land; they passed through the river on foot. Let us rejoice in him there!

Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

For the LORD your God dried up the water of the Jordan before you while you crossed over. It was just like when the LORD your God dried up the Red Sea before us while we crossed it.

then they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that you, LORD, are among this people, that you, LORD, are seen face to face, that your cloud stands over them, and that you go before them by day in a pillar of cloud and in a pillar of fire by night.

He guided them safely along, while the sea covered their enemies.

They traveled from Pi-hahiroth, and passed through the middle of the sea into the wilderness, and went three days’ journey in the wilderness of Etham, and camped in Marah.

With regard to spiritual gifts, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed.

The LORD will continually lead you; he will feed you even in parched regions. He will give you renewed strength, and you will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring that continually produces water.Your perpetual ruins will be rebuilt; you will reestablish the ancient foundations. You will be called,‘ The one who repairs broken walls, the one who makes the streets inhabitable again.’You must observe the Sabbath rather than doing anything you please on my holy day. You must look forward to the Sabbath and treat the LORD’s holy day with respect. You must treat it with respect by refraining from your normal activities, and by refraining from your selfish pursuits and from making business deals.

“ Due to your great compassion you did not abandon them in the desert. The pillar of cloud did not stop guiding them in the path by day, nor did the pillar of fire stop illuminating for them by night the path on which they should travel.

The waters saw you, O God, the waters saw you and trembled. Yes, the depths of the sea shook with fear.The clouds poured down rain; the skies thundered. Yes, your arrows flashed about.Your thunderous voice was heard in the wind; the lightning bolts lit up the world; the earth trembled and shook.You walked through the sea; you passed through the surging waters, but left no footprints.You led your people like a flock of sheep, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

to the one who divided the Red Sea in two, for his loyal love endures,and led Israel through its midst, for his loyal love endures,and tossed Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea, for his loyal love endures,

the one who was constantly going before you to find places for you to set up camp. He appeared by fire at night and cloud by day, to show you the way you ought to go.

The sea looked and fled; the Jordan River turned back.The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.Why do you flee, O sea? Why do you turn back, O Jordan River?

And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised, so that he would become the father of all those who believe but have never been circumcised, that they too could have righteousness credited to them.

The angel of God, who was going before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them.It came between the Egyptian camp and the Israelite camp; it was a dark cloud and it lit up the night so that one camp did not come near the other the whole night.Moses stretched out his hand toward the sea, and the LORD drove the sea apart by a strong east wind all that night, and he made the sea into dry land, and the water was divided.So the Israelites went through the middle of the sea on dry ground, the water forming a wall for them on their right and on their left.

On the day that the tabernacle was set up, the cloud covered the tabernacle– the tent of the testimony– and from evening until morning there was a fiery appearance over the tabernacle.This is the way it used to be continually: The cloud would cover it by day, and there was a fiery appearance by night.Whenever the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the Israelites would begin their journey; and in whatever place the cloud settled, there the Israelites would make camp.At the commandment of the LORD the Israelites would begin their journey, and at the commandment of the LORD they would make camp; as long as the cloud remained settled over the tabernacle they would camp.When the cloud remained over the tabernacle many days, then the Israelites obeyed the instructions of the LORD and did not journey.When the cloud remained over the tabernacle a number of days, they remained camped according to the LORD’s commandment, and according to the LORD’s commandment they would journey.And when the cloud remained only from evening until morning, when the cloud was taken up the following morning, then they traveled on. Whether by day or by night, when the cloud was taken up they traveled.Whether it was for two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud prolonged its stay over the tabernacle, the Israelites remained camped without traveling; but when it was taken up, they traveled on.

For if God did not spare the natural branches, perhaps he will not spare you.

Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you people say that the place where people must worship is in Jerusalem.”

And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to the promise.

Then I saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who had conquered the beast and his image and the number of his name. They were standing by the sea of glass, holding harps given to them by God.They sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb:“ Great and astounding are your deeds, Lord God, the All- Powerful! Just and true are your ways, King over the nations!

Now the LORD was going before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them in the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel day or night.He did not remove the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night from before the people.
