惟我儕宣釘十字架之基督、猶太人視為礙、礙或作可厭希拉人視為愚、

而吾人所傳揚者、乃一被釘於十字架之基督耳。此於猶太人為躓石、於異邦人為愚妄；

but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,

But we preach about Christ and his death on the cross. That is very hard for Jews to accept. And everyone else thinks it’s foolish.

but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles,

So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.

but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles.

but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness,

but we preach about a crucified Christ, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.

but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews, and foolishness to Greeks,

and A stone to stumble over, and a rock to trip over. They stumble because they disobey the message; they were destined for this.

But the unbeliever does not welcome what comes from God’s Spirit, because it is foolishness to him; he is not able to understand it since it is evaluated spiritually.

For I didn’t think it was a good idea to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

He will be a sanctuary; but for the two houses of Israel, He will be a stone to stumble over and a rock to trip over, and a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.Many will stumble over these; they will fall and be broken; they will be snared and captured.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but it is God’s power to us who are being saved.

Now brothers, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.

Then Simeon blessed them and told His mother Mary:“ Indeed, this child is destined to cause the fall and rise of many in Israel and to be a sign that will be opposed—

But as for me, I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. The world has been crucified to me through the cross, and I to the world.

And they were offended by Him. But Jesus said to them,“ A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his household.”

So Jesus said to them,“ I assure you: Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you do not have life in yourselves.Anyone who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day,because My flesh is real food and My blood is real drink.The one who eats My flesh and drinks My blood lives in Me, and I in him.Just as the living Father sent Me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on Me will live because of Me.This is the bread that came down from heaven; it is not like the manna your fathers ate— and they died. The one who eats this bread will live forever.”He said these things while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.Therefore, when many of His disciples heard this, they said,“ This teaching is hard! Who can accept it?”Jesus, knowing in Himself that His disciples were complaining about this, asked them,“ Does this offend you?Then what if you were to observe the Son of Man ascending to where He was before?The Spirit is the One who gives life. The flesh doesn’t help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.But there are some among you who don’t believe.”( For Jesus knew from the beginning those who would not believe and the one who would betray Him.)He said,“ This is why I told you that no one can come to Me unless it is granted to him by the Father.”From that moment many of His disciples turned back and no longer accompanied Him.

And if anyone is not offended because of Me, he is blessed.”

You foolish Galatians! Who has hypnotized you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was vividly portrayed as crucified?

This grace was given to me— the least of all the saints— to proclaim to the Gentiles the incalculable riches of the Messiah,

God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world— what is viewed as nothing— to bring to nothing what is viewed as something,

He also said to them,“ This is what is written: The Messiah would suffer and rise from the dead the third day,and repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Why is that? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone.As it is written: Look! I am putting a stone in Zion to stumble over and a rock to trip over, yet the one who believes on Him will not be put to shame.

For we are not proclaiming ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves because of Jesus.

We ourselves are witnesses of everything He did in both the Judean country and in Jerusalem, yet they killed Him by hanging Him on a tree.God raised up this man on the third day and permitted Him to be seen,not by all the people, but by us, witnesses appointed beforehand by God, who ate and drank with Him after He rose from the dead.He commanded us to preach to the people and to solemnly testify that He is the One appointed by God to be the Judge of the living and the dead.All the prophets testify about Him that through His name everyone who believes in Him will receive forgiveness of sins.”

I am the God of your fathers— the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob. So Moses began to tremble and did not dare to look.“ Then the Lord said to him: Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.I have observed the oppression of My people in Egypt; I have heard their groaning and have come down to rescue them. And now, come, I will send you to Egypt.“ This Moses, whom they rejected when they said, Who appointed you a ruler and a judge?— this one God sent as a ruler and a redeemer by means of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.
