願主賦爾聰明智慧、使爾治以色列、謹守主爾天主之律法、

May the Lord give you discretion and understanding when he puts you in command over Israel, so that you may keep the law of the Lord your God.

May the Lord give you good sense. May he give you understanding when he makes you king over Israel. Then you will keep the law of the Lord your God.

Only, may the Lord grant you discretion and understanding, that when he gives you charge over Israel you may keep the law of the Lord your God.

And may the Lord give you wisdom and understanding, that you may obey the Law of the Lord your God as you rule over Israel.

Above all, may the LORD give you insight and understanding when he puts you in charge of Israel so that you may keep the law of the LORD your God.

求你赐我智慧治理你的子民，并能辨别是非；不然，我又怎能治理你这众多的子民呢？”主喜悦所罗门的祈求，对他说：“既然你不为自己求寿、求财富，也不求灭绝仇敌，只求有智慧治理我的子民，我必应允你，赐给你空前绝后的智慧和悟性。

现在，求你赐我智慧和知识以带领他们。不然，谁能治理这么多的百姓呢？”

明哲凭智慧辨道，愚人被愚昧欺骗。

如果你们谁缺少智慧，就当求慷慨施恩、不责备人的上帝，上帝必赐给他智慧。

因为耶和华赐人智慧，知识和悟性出自祂的口。祂使正直人充满智慧，是行为纯全者的盾牌。

上帝啊，求你将你的公正赐给王，将你的公义赐给王的儿子。

因为我会赐给你们口才、智慧，使你们的仇敌全无反驳的余地。

我们若遵行上帝的命令，就知道自己认识祂。

除了埃及公主以外，所罗门王还宠爱许多外邦女子，有摩押人、亚扪人、以东人、西顿人和赫人。耶和华曾告诉以色列人不可跟这些外族人通婚，免得受引诱去随从他们的神明，所罗门却迷恋这些女子。他有七百个妻子，都是外国的公主，还有三百个妃嫔。这些女子使他的心背弃耶和华。所罗门年老的时候，他的嫔妃诱惑他的心去追随别的神明。他没有像他父亲大卫那样忠心顺服他的上帝耶和华。所罗门拜西顿人的女神亚斯她录和亚扪人的可憎神明米勒公。他做了耶和华视为恶的事，没有像他父亲大卫那样忠心顺服耶和华。在耶路撒冷东面的山上，所罗门为摩押人可憎的神明基抹和亚扪人可憎的神明摩洛修建丘坛。他又为所有的外邦妃嫔修建丘坛，供她们向自己的神明烧香献祭。所罗门背弃了曾两次向他显现的以色列的上帝耶和华，违背耶和华的命令去随从别的神明。所以，耶和华向他发怒，

你们要谨遵这些律例和典章，因为这样就会让外族人看见你们的智慧和聪明。他们听见这些律法后，必说，‘这伟大的民族真有智慧和聪明！’
