And God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem. But as the angel was doing so, the Lord saw it and relented concerning the disaster and said to the angel who was destroying the people,“ Enough! Withdraw your hand.” The angel of the Lord was then standing at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

“在猶大王希西家的日子，摩利沙人彌迦對猶大的眾民說預言：‘萬軍之耶和華這樣說：錫安要像田地被耕犁，耶路撒冷必成為廢墟，這殿的山必變為雜樹叢生的高岡。’

所羅門在耶路撒冷，在耶和華向他父親大衛顯現過的摩利亞山上，就是在耶布斯人阿珥楠的禾場上，大衛預備的地方，開工建造耶和華的殿。

“耶路撒冷，耶路撒冷啊，你殺害先知，又用石頭把奉派到你們那裡的人打死。我多次想招聚你的兒女，好像母雞招聚小雞到翅膀底下，只是你們不願意。你看，你們的家必成為荒場，留給你們。

我甚麼時候宣布要拔出、拆毀、毀滅一邦或一國，如果我論到的那一邦轉離他們的惡行，我就必回心轉意，不把我原定的災禍降給他們。同樣，我甚麼時候宣布要建立、栽植一邦或一國，如果他們行我眼中看為惡的事，不聽從我的話，我就必回心轉意，不把我應許的好處賜給他們。

耶和華為他們興起士師的時候，耶和華就與那士師同在；那士師在世的日子，耶和華總是拯救他們脫離仇敵的手；因為他們在壓迫和苦害他們的人底下發出哀聲，耶和華就憐憫他們。

以色列人就從他們中間除去外族人的神，事奉耶和華；耶和華的心因以色列人所受的患難，就很著急。

他自己卻在曠野走了一天的路，來到一棵羅騰樹下，就坐在那裡求死，說：“耶和華啊，現在已經夠了，求你取我的性命吧，因為我並不比我的列祖好。”

耶穌第三次回來，對他們說：“你們還在睡覺休息嗎？夠了，時候到了，看哪，人子要被交在罪人手裡了。

請你們祈求耶和華吧，因為這雷聲和冰雹已經夠了；我決意讓你們離開，你們不可再留在這裡。”

他卻有憐憫，赦免罪孽，沒有把他們滅絕，並且多次抑制自己的怒氣，沒有完全宣洩他的烈怒。

你為甚麼奉耶和華的名預言，說：‘這殿必像示羅一樣，這城必變為荒場，沒有人居住呢？’”於是眾民在耶和華的殿裡集合到耶利米那裡。

就向耶和華禱告，說：“耶和華啊！我還在本國的時候，不是這樣說過嗎？我知道你是有恩典有憐憫的神，不輕易發怒，並且有豐盛的慈愛，轉意不降災禍，所以我才急忙逃往他施去。

當天使向耶路撒冷伸手，要毀滅耶路撒冷的時候，耶和華就後悔降這災禍，就對那毀滅眾民的天使說：“夠了，現在住手吧！”那時，耶和華的天使在耶布斯人亞勞拿的打禾場那裡。

“你們可以到示羅我的地方去，就是先前我名的居所，看看我因我子民以色列的邪惡，對那地方所行的。

耶和華啊！要到幾時呢？求你回心轉意，求你憐恤你的僕人。
