You can have three years when there will not be enough food in the land. You can have three months when your enemies will sweep you away. They will catch up with you. They will destroy you with their swords. Or you can have three days when the sword of the Lord will punish you. That means there would be three days of plague in the land. My angel would strike down people in every part of Israel.’ So take your pick. Tell me how to answer the one who sent me.”

被刀刺死的比被饑荒餓死的還好，因為前者雖被刺傷，還可以喫田間的出產。

『但將來你若不聽永恆主你的上帝的聲音，而謹慎遵行他一切的誡命律例、就是我今日所吩咐你的，以下這一切咒詛就必臨到你，把你趕上。

因為永恆主要巡行、來擊死埃及人；他看見有血在門楣上和兩邊的門柱上，永恆主就會把那門越過去，不容那滅命者進你們的房屋來擊死你們。

我要使刀劍擊殺你們，對你們施行背約的報罰。你們聚集在你們的城內，我要打發瘟疫在你們中間，要將你們交在仇敵手中。我要折斷你們糧食的支杖；那時必有十個女人只在一個手提爐子給你們烤餅，又按分量將餅交回你們；你們要喫，也喫不飽。『經了這樣的事、你們若還不聽從我，行事反而跟我作對，我就要發烈怒，行事跟你們作對；我要因你們的罪而懲罰你們七倍。你們必喫自己兒子們的肉，你們自己女兒們的肉、你們也要喫。

永恆主必用癆病、熱病、炎症、惡性熱病、乾旱、旱風、霉爛、擊打你；它們必追趕你，直到你滅亡。

就在那一天夜裏、永恆主的使者就出來，在亞述營中擊殺了十八萬五千人；第二天早晨、人清早起來，哎呀，都是死屍。

以利沙曾對兒子被他救活的婦人說：『你要起身，你和你的家要往可寄居的地方去寄居；因為永恆主已呼喚饑荒，並且那饑荒必臨到此地七年之久。

我憑事實告訴你們，當以利亞的日子、以色列中有許多寡婦；那時天閉塞了三年零六個月，遍地大饑荒；

上帝差遣了使者到耶路撒冷去殺滅城裏的人；正在殺滅的時候，永恆主看見，對這災就後悔，便對行殺滅的天使說：『夠了；住手吧！』那時永恆主的使者在耶布斯人阿珥楠的禾場附近站着。大衛舉目，看見了永恆主的使者在空中站着，手裏有拔出來的刀，在耶路撒冷上空伸着。大衛和長老們都披上麻布，臉伏於地。

於是迦得來見大衛，通知他，問他說：『你願意你這地有三年饑荒呢？還是你在敵人面前逃跑、而他追趕着你三個月呢？抑或在你這地有三天的瘟疫呢？現在你要思想、要看清楚我該用甚麼話去回覆那差遣我的。』大衛對迦得說：『我非常為難；讓我們落在永恆主手裏吧，因為他有豐盛的憐憫；可別讓我落在人手裏呀。』於是大衛選擇了瘟疫。那些日子正是收割麥子的日子。

『永恆主必使你在仇敵面前被擊敗；你從一條路出去攻打他們，必由七條路、從他們面前逃跑；你竟要成為地上萬國所引為令人不寒而慄的例子。

主的使者立時擊打希律，因為他不將榮耀歸與上帝，他被蟲子咬，就氣絕了。

哦，永恆主的刀劍哪，你到幾時才能安靜下來呢？你收入鞘，靜息不動吧！

他必將你牲口所下的、和你土地上的果實喫了，直到將你消滅；連五穀、新酒、新油、幼小的牛、肥嫩的羊、都不給你剩下，直到使你滅亡為止。他必將你圍困在你各城內，直到你所倚靠高大堅固的城牆在你遍地都被攻下；他必將你圍困在你各城內、在永恆主你的上帝所賜給你的遍地。

此後我看見四位天使站在地的四角上，掌握着地上四面的風，叫風不吹在地上，不吹在海上，也不吹在任何樹上。我看見另有一位天使從日出之地上來，執有永活上帝的印。他向那得權柄能傷害地和海的四位天使大聲喊着說：『地或海或樹木、你們別傷害，等到我們在我們上帝之僕人們額上蓋上了印為止。』

那麼你們所怕的刀劍就會在埃及地那裏趕上你們；你們所恐懼的饑荒就會緊跟着你們到埃及那裏，使你們死在那裏。

至於你們剩下的人呢、他們在仇敵之地時、我必使怯懦餒弱之氣進他們的心；飄蕩落葉的響聲也會追趕他們；他們必逃跑、像人逃避刀劍；沒有人追趕，他們也跌倒。沒有人追趕、他們也彼此相撞而跌倒，像在刀劍之前；在仇敵面前、你們也站立不住。

基列的提斯比有一位提斯比人以利亞對亞哈說：『我指着以色列的上帝、我侍立在他面前永活的永恆主來起誓；這幾年除非憑我說話，天必不降露或下雨。』

我要向你們板着臉，你們就會在仇敵面前被擊敗；恨惡你們的必管轄你們；沒有人追趕，你們也逃跑。

永恆主必在你膝上腿上用毒瘡擊打你、是不能醫治的；從你腳掌到頭頂，漫處都是。

或者我打發瘟疫去流行那地，使我那叫人流血的烈怒傾倒在那上頭，好將人和牲口都從那裏剪除掉；即使有挪亞、但以理、約伯在那中間，主永恆主發神諭說，我指着永活的我來起誓，他們也必不能援救他們的兒女，乃只能因自己的義而援救自己的性命罷了。『何況我打發刀劍、饑荒、惡獸、瘟疫這四樣嚴厲的判罰，去降給耶路撒冷，將人和牲口都從那裏剪除掉，豈不更加各自為救麼？主永恆主這麼說。

在野地裏一切無草木的高處上有毁滅者來到；因為永恆主的刀從地這邊到地那邊進行着吞滅之事呢；凡有血肉的沒有一個得平安。

因為永恆主必用火施審判，用刀向凡有血肉的行判罰；而永恆主刺死的人一定很多。

永恆主必用埃及人的瘡、和鼠疫疱、牛皮癬、疥、擊打你，是你不能得醫治的。

不怕幽暗中流行的瘟疫，或中午間滅人的毒病。

你們必喫舊的糧食，也必挪出舊的、以便貯藏新的。

惡人在今世之完結也必這樣。天使必出來，把惡人從義人中分別出來，丟在火爐裏；在那裏必有哀哭和切齒。』
