I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought Israel up out of Egypt to this day. I have moved from one tent site to another, from one dwelling place to another.

祂曾说，‘自从我把我的以色列子民带出埃及以来，我并没有在以色列各支派中选出一座城来建造殿宇，作为我名下的居所。我只是拣选了大卫来治理我的以色列子民。’”

诸天尚且容纳不下祂，谁能为祂建造殿宇呢？我是谁，怎能为祂建造殿宇？我不过是建个向祂烧香的地方。

耶和华说：“天是我的宝座，地是我的脚凳，你们要为我造怎样的殿宇？哪里可作我的安歇之处？一切都是我亲手创造的。这是耶和华说的。我看顾谦卑、悔过、对我的话心存敬畏的人。

“然而，上帝啊，你真的会住在人间吗？看啊，诸天尚且不够你居住，更何况我建造的这殿呢？

他们把耶和华的约柜抬来，安放在大卫准备好的帐篷里。大卫在耶和华面前献上燔祭和平安祭，

祭司和利未人将约柜、会幕和会幕里的一切圣器运上来。

“我们的祖先在旷野的时候，一直带着安放约柜的圣幕，这圣幕是上帝吩咐摩西照他所看见的样式造的。后来我们的祖先承受了圣幕。上帝从我们祖先面前赶走外族人，使他们得到了应许之地。他们同约书亚把圣幕带到那里，一直到大卫的时代。大卫蒙上帝悦纳，祈求为雅各的上帝建造一座圣殿。结果是他的儿子所罗门为上帝建成了圣殿。“其实至高的上帝并不住人造的殿，祂曾借着先知说，‘天是我的宝座，地是我的脚凳，你们要为我造怎样的殿宇？哪里可作我的安歇之处？这一切不都是我亲手创造的吗？’

“然而，上帝啊，你真的会住在人间吗？看啊，诸天尚且不够你居住，更何况我建造的这殿呢？
