He allowed no one to oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings:

耶和华不容什么人欺负他们，为他们的缘故责备君王，

上帝不容人虐遇之、因之譴責列王兮、

上帝不容人虐遇、苟為列王所侮、譴責必加。

主不容人欺虐之、因彼之故、懲治列王、

But God didn’t allow anyone to treat them badly. To keep them safe, he gave a command to kings.

he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their account,

Yet he did not let anyone oppress them. He warned kings on their behalf:

But the Lord inflicted serious diseases on Pharaoh and his household because of Abram’s wife Sarai.

But God came to Abimelek in a dream one night and said to him,“ You are as good as dead because of the woman you have taken; she is a married woman.”

Go to Pharaoh in the morning as he goes out to the river. Confront him on the bank of the Nile, and take in your hand the staff that was changed into a snake.Then say to him,‘ The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to say to you: Let my people go, so that they may worship me in the wilderness. But until now you have not listened.This is what the Lord says: By this you will know that I am the Lord: With the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water of the Nile, and it will be changed into blood.The fish in the Nile will die, and the river will stink; the Egyptians will not be able to drink its water.’”

Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Get up early in the morning, confront Pharaoh and say to him,‘ This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me,or this time I will send the full force of my plagues against you and against your officials and your people, so you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth.For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth.But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.You still set yourself against my people and will not let them go.Therefore, at this time tomorrow I will send the worst hailstorm that has ever fallen on Egypt, from the day it was founded till now.

If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had not been with me, you would surely have sent me away empty-handed. But God has seen my hardship and the toil of my hands, and last night he rebuked you.”

Then God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream at night and said to him,“ Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.”

I have the power to harm you; but last night the God of your father said to me,‘ Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.’
