大衛對亞比篩說：「現在比基利的兒子示巴對我們的危害比押沙龍更大。你帶著你主人的臣僕們追趕他，免得他找到堅固的城，從我們眼前逃脫了。」

約押和他弟弟亞比篩殺押尼珥，是因他在基遍戰場上殺了他們的弟弟亞撒暉。

洗魯雅的兒子亞比篩幫助大衛，攻擊那非利士人，把他殺了。那時大衛的部下向他起誓說：「你不可再與我們一起出戰，以免把以色列的燈熄滅了。」

當時洗魯雅的三個兒子約押、亞比篩和亞撒暉都在那裡。亞撒暉腿腳敏捷，如同野羚羊。
